    Video tutorials are really helpful, I watched them too when I wanted to learn this CMS. Addidtional you can test Artisteer - tool which show you that designing is not hard, check this site www.bktemplates.com.

    I think, if you are really interested to learn wp, you need to go codex.wordpress.com and use google as your teacher.

    shat do you mean with learn wordpress?. Learn make a post or page? or learning about installing wordpress in self hosting?. because learning have level skills like basic, intermediate and advance.

    Youtube has a lot easy tutorials. With wordpress it's easier with online tutorials.

    Codex is certainly the manual for wordpress like we have php.net for PHP , but its too complicated for a beginner. There are several tutorials available online but nothing is arranged well. I had the same problem long time back when I started learning wordpress. But I learned it the hard way from online only. So if you are looking for some lectures from somebody to get started, I think that's a fair demand.

    Basically, there are three kinds of groups who are using WordPress:

    1. Bloggers, or web masters, who are using WordPress as a CMS

    2. Theme designers

    3. Plugin Designers

    Actually there's another group - core contributors, they contribute code to the WordPress Core, but they're usually theme designers or plugin designers at the same time.

    Based on which one you want to become, you may need to learn different things.

    For theme development, you can find a lot of tutorials on Google. Another good place to go is ThemeShaper, they're founded by the WordPress team to help people to create themes. They have a new tutorial of theme development on their website now which is the most up to date version as I know.
