    Hello Everyone!
I am going to use the new faster database system i.e. LEXST. I heard that it shows the search results just within 0.1-0.5 seconds. But before using this system i just want to gather the all information about this database system so need your help. Please check it by visiting www.lexst.com and kindly share your experience with me if you used it. Every type of information will appreciated. If you knows the better database system than it kindly mention here.

    Thanks & regards
    Danial!

Well that faq is a little ambiguos ...

It should say LEXST database supports any language except SQL :D

Personally, I'll stay away from it until it's got proper support but that's just my opinion.

Well as much as i know about this database system and it's very cheaper than others database system, I read about the oracle one also but i think the cost of the oracle one is aprox. 1500 USD and it's just of 150 USD...

And the best part you could download it free and check it first..

Well well well i never used it, but i discussed it with my friend after read your this thread he told me that he heard about this database system but never used it....

    Have a great day :)

    Thanks

Yeah, but it's not cheaper than mySQL, which is free and widely used.

if you just have a small database, Lexst cluster is not necessary. but if you have a big table, MySQL can't help, it becomes very slow.

Of course, you can buy MySQL Cluster(7000$).

New faster database? Looks slow to me.

I was getting better results than that in 1996 using FoxPro on a slow computer with MILLIONS of rows of data in the database. That was thirteen years ago and computers are much faster today so I fail to see how this "new faster database" is anything other than a slow database masquerading as a fast database on a fast computer.

Even today on that same old computer I can do a SQL query in FoxPro on a table with 100,000 rows and a hundred columns wide and display the results in 0.07 seconds which is faster than the times you noted above without using SQL. So, HOW can this be a "new faster database" when it is so much slower (on a fast machine) than doing a SQL query on this old slow machine???

Foxbase ? 0.07 second ? if you get 1 million rows in your table, and take 100 search operations in one second, your foxbase woud refuse to work.

I read guide of LEXST, it is "No matter how many rows you have in your table, when handling concurrent searching, always return the results in 0.5 Second".

it overdo SQL server of course, but LEXST is not suitable for personal database, it's for huge database, TB sized database. With ordinary system, you even don't know how to load the data into your computer.

Not Foxbase. Go back and read what I wrote. Foxbase won't even come close to that time.
