    Hi, Blog commenting is one of the activities which we used to get back links, rather than this there are many other Off Page activity which is useful for increase ranking. First i will suggest to optimize your website for on page i.e implement all the targeted keywords in your website then start off page optimization.

    Most of blogs have added nofollow for external links so you can't get link juice by this.

    Blog commenting does not have any SEO score, though it is very helpful to get readers for your blog. If you made a valuable comments on other blogs which adds some value to it than people love to connect with you and landed to your blog. I personally get visitors from blog commenting.

    Google has said that in general they don't follow nofollow links. "In general". Either way, having a lot of nofollow links from a number of sites is a natural looking profile. Especially if there are in your niche. Having lots of dofollow links and few nofollow may make your site stand out in a bad way.
    And as others have said, it's good for traffic.

    even if blog comments are nofollow, it's still good to reach out to other bloggers. if you will comment on a blog, make sure to read the post first, then make a relevant comment to the blog post
