    Hey Guys,

I run a Forum & a Hosting Business together, And I want to increase sales and traffic. Right now our site has a predictive traffic pattern and it has not changed much either.

I am not sure what we are doing wrong, However, Since we implemented our new design we have had a bit more successful traffic & 2 new sales ;)

I want to increase this, But we only have a PR 1 and no further statistics besides minimal ones.

Has anyone got any suggestions they could offer me?

    Cheers
    Sean

    Hello JetWash,

So, I take it you are trying to get increased traffic and sales for your hosting company? I need a bit more information.

If this is correct, you were saying that you are getting a bit more traffic since you implemented the new design. May we ask what type of analytic or tracking software you are using?

We are a development and marketing company and we would be happy to take a look over your site and give you a free site analysis over your site.

Please let us know what type of marketing you are doing now, directory submissions, article directories, etc, that way we can look at what is going on with your site and offer you better suggestions.

    Hello Submitarticles,

Pretty much you are correct, Yes Increased traffic to our Hosting Business.
We use Google Analytics as our main traffic analytic source, We find it to be pretty good and we have not invested in anything other as it seems to be the most popular free anylatic program.

We have done some URL Suubmissions or atleast quite a few, I have never really been a marketing guru so have not really been able understand where to start with SEO except for paying people to do it for us & in the long run it does not seem to work.

I am unsure of the best ways to advertise so I have just been helping others and hoping for the best :)

    Hello,

Well let me first start out and say this. I love your name, although mine is spelled Shawn :)

Sure, we would be happy to help you out. Please give me your url, that way we can run some checks and do some research for you.

As, I said we are a development and marketing company, we offer free site analysis and consultations, so just give us your URL, and we will do the rest and get you a free analysis over to you asap.

Also, yes Analytics is the best one to use, as we will talk about in your consultation service, we will help you understand how to use it better to convert sales easier and stuff of this nature.

Also, do you have MSN or Windows Live so we can talk on your consultation service?

Join social networking site specially blog social networking will increase traffic and even sale. Its all about how you spread the news. Press release are good way to let people know how your hosting works. Just my 2 cents.

Just a few ways of getting some back links and extra traffic.

Being a hosting company, try looking for blogs about web hosting and comment on them. Most blogs have a field for you to add your website too. I receive a large portion of traffic from this.

Add a link to your website on any forum you frequent, generally helps to gain a small portion of traffic, and if the forum is of the same topic as your website, they do turn into sales.

You have a canonical issue. I would forward the non www addy to www with .htacess by adding this to it..

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^atechosting.com
    RewriteRule (.*) http://www.atechosting.com/$1 [R=301,L]

this can cause a range of issues from duplicate content penalties to diluting your pr. I really don't think I have seen it happen lately but its standard practice for seo folks. It is still one of the first things I check actually.

I will try to poke around a bit more after I eat something.

    hope that helps,
    Nigel

Edit: actually some of the onsite seo is all over the place but the markup is pretty good so its not too hard to rectify that. Think semantics and htags. Keep in mind, conversions and things of that ilk are not inherently tied to SEO. You do still need to get the folks there though and things like that will help the cause. I am just rattling stuff off as I see it.

Thanks Nigel, Well appreciated. I have now updated that in my .htaccess, Hopefully that will make some improvement.
Also, I have been mentoned to update my front page with some good content & some images etc to give it a better 1st impression. I guess I will need to work on that impression making to get some good sales.

Will see how I go, I am no designer but it is well worth a shot!!!!

just want to say my piece of advice.. been in that situation too before and thank goodness we've already come this far.. being in this field of business is never that easy, it takes a lot of pressure, struggle and heart pumping when you've almost reach your zenith.. but nonetheless if you really worked hard for it, in time you will reap the fruits abundantly.

wishing you a productive business.. :)

    Mine your existing customer base.

When was the last time you sent them an email urging them to join your affiliate program and reminding them how much money (or free hosting time) they can get for referring their friends?

Don't be cheap - if they bag a 12 or 24 month plan, give them at least a free month for the referral. Hey, refer 12 friends and get a whole YEAR of free hosting - woohoo!

The best sales force in the world is an evangelical one that believes in a product they use.

you could try offering existing members incentives to recomend friends. virul marketing is definately something to consider. You may have to throw some money at it though.

Everyobdy does :) The answer is traffic

You should join a soacial network such as facebook and add a lot of friends.... you could easily get targeted traffic from there :)
