Hi I am also not successful. I started my businnes 2 months ago and I am in minus. No 15K chalenge, or something like that. But I work on my pages with enthusiasm, and it is my hobby for now. I am not sad, because I know that this way is so long. And the most important thing I gain lhuge amount of new info, that might be useful for me in future. Possible profit is only question of time. Maybe read carefully DP posts, make plan and try something new.

I don't work set hours a week. Freelance web designer. I research niche topics and try to determine what they need... Then I find something they need and do research as to whether they know they need it and if they would use it. If I think they need it i do it. An example would be searching niche topics and then seeing something about STD's. Look at what they need. People with STD's usually get them from having multiple partners (USUALLY, dont shoot), which means that they probably have a good sexual drive that isn't going anywhere, so I would look into creating a dating site for people with STD's. I know this has been done but when I'm dry for ideas I go to bbc.co.uk news or digg and investigate niches like that.

Unless you are the CEO of a major company like ebay , Mircosoft

Then you would be rich working for someone else:D

1st off, if you're just working to "get rich" it's not going to happen. I know quite a few very rich people and they all have a passion for what they do (which is why they are successful at it). So, like every one has already suggested, find a niche that you enjoy working with.

While, not technically "advice", a self made multi-millionaire once told me this: "Out of 10 things I try, maybe 1 makes money".

Don't be afraid to try something new and don't be discouraged if it doesn't work. Learn a lesson from every mistake/failure and build on it :).

Fully agree with this statement. Its my third go round at this but each time I made more money and learned a sh*t load from the previous failure. My problem was I expected too much too soon. I'm still not even close to being an expert but not a noob either. Ask questions and read. The main thing is try your ideas out some work some dont. Each experience you will take "what worked" and use it on your next try. Eventually it has to work lol :)

Time and patience. Rich, not for me, just able to pay bills and go out once in a while. Good health allows for that.

Hard work is important , but believe me i never worked hard in my life and i will not too ... i work when i want to work ... i mean if i am posting you reply its not hard work , if i write an article about something that i like , its again not harwork .. So first of all when choosing niche just take care one thing that is " what is your favorite niche" . if you will work on your favorite subject believe me you will never feel bored and you will be much more creative than you can even imagine ...
Success : there are basically two ways to get success , one is slow and steadily win the race , thats what my approach is , keep writing articles , keep promoting your blogs websites , donot care whats happening around you .. so even if you write 2-3 articles on something you love to write you will have enough material to get good traffic .. and if you write something that really means and creative ofcourse you will get lot of revisits .. So the older you are in affiliate marketing the more successful you are .....Use standard techniques in affiliate marketing , let other peoples review your website and point out errors for you and you will be successful ...
As far as quick money is concerned , thats what most peoples want , i feel there are very few peoples who get quick money .. forexample they write something which peoples are hungry to read and keep forwarding his/her website to everyone . yes it rarely happens .. and yes its just like lotto ..

Statergy : you should design statergy depending on availability of time . if you are full time affiliate you can probably easily spend 5-7 hrs on internet . so you can devide your time on various promotion techniques fior example , 2 hrs for various forum postings, 2 hrs for designing email newsletters etc or writing blogs ... 2 hrs on some short term earning technique like posting comments on appropriate blogs/news etc .... Also if one site does not convert well for you diversify your sites ... for example create some sites on health , then create some sites on education use lot of niches .... you can also try to change affiliate banners on your website .. keep changing affiliate banners on weekly basis may make more money for you as revisits may bring lot of resales ... overall use search engines to get traffic and use newsletters to get revisits ... test various niches , test various affiliate programs and finally go for something that really does well for you .... hope it will help .

Yep, best advise on this thread. Everyone needs an incentive to be good at what they do, and when you enjoy whatever you do you'll actually look forward to doing it.

IMO it's a calculated balance of effort & cunning that is needed, just slogging your ass off for a low paying task won't get you anywhere. But if you employ some people to do the task, you'll be profiting off of their labor which is smart. Like I have been thinking for months now about investing in starting a call center business.

I'm sure this has been said before but I'll say it again, whatever your business plan is try to bill clients on a recurring basis for it.

Sometimes it's good to get some work experience in a particular field before you go in with all guns blazing. Once you know a particular market you can target your service/prices more effectively and have a better chance of making a better profit. Knowledge is power! ;)

I think with dedication to your "niche" youll do it.
Write a Diary blog about how you are going about making money and make sure the blog is syndicated..
Put your thinking cap on and think of some mad scheme to drive users to your site.. Youll see lots of "viral marketing" ideas out there..
Could be sending free postcards from the niche site.. could be anything too i suppose!

One way to try figure out a good niche is to do a search for keywords in the playground at www.webconfs.com or www.overture.com
Youll get a feel for the kind of things people search for...

So for example (dont know why this came into my head..)
From Webconfs.com tool , I can see that 316 people last month searched for "horseradish sauce recipe" . There are 551k sites in competition on Google . This means that if you were to create a site and target these keywords , put some work into the site ( link building etc) that theres no reason why you cant pull some or all of those 316 people..

Now this is just an example.. try lots more.. but key is to look for something that lots of people are searching for but low competition in Goolgle..

Google wont give you the same kind of stats ( except boo boo from AOL a while back...) but... www.google.com/trends might give you an idea..

e.g. If webconfs keyword tool tells you that 1000 people are searching for something , search for it in Google trends and you might see a similar pattern...

Im no guru but these guys at DP should be able to guide you the right direction. Im squatting around here in these forums for the last few months and havent come up with anything genius yet........

    Yet...... :)

Don't give up that's the main thing. I'm 20 years old and I've only been in the business for 2 years. I'm currently making mid XX,xxx$ a month. It's not because I'm lucky or anything like that it's because I spent like 16 horus a day working, researching, reading post and so on. The more time you put into it the more you will make. Don't think you can make it rich by just spending a few minutes a day working (atleast not at the start).
