Hi My friend has giving me one of his flash sites he bought a few months ago as hes went back to non flash. I have 5 fla files , and 5 shockwave files Im using flash cs3 to edit the txt to suit my needs , but i dont have the font that was used on the original txt. Whats happening is when i select the txt tool and go to edit the txt its just making a new layer , instead of just opening that txt layer , but it wont let me as i havent got that font! Is there any other way i can edit it ? thanks in advance
Hmm, I would think you could still edit it, just not in the same font. You need to ask your friend what the name of that font is, and then download it (you're running windows? There's a folder called FONT where you'll see a bunch of other fonts... it has to go in there). That's about as far as I've gotten and haven't actually been able to import that font to my browsers, but as far as I've heard you're not supposed to have to actually bring the font into Flash but simply have it on the computer in the FONT folder.
1* Ask you friend what type of font it is "Exact name of the font" 2* If You Are using Cs3 you Will be getting Some Font from the original CD of CS3 if thats not the one You can still Download the Font and Send it to the *Font Folder In control panel* 3* Most font Will Be taken From Microsoft office Font Package. If You Still Dont have a Clue How to stop that layer being opened as A New layer "All That you can do is Find the Exact Font name Or use Some OTher Font That You Like"

You'll want to go to WhattheFont or one of those sites to find it... but so you know, it's sans-serif and in the same family as Futura, Century Gothic, Kabel and Nobel... however none of those quite have all the same letters as your font (Futura, an extremely popular MS font that almost everyone has, doesn't have the little wrap on the lower-case "j", while Nobel doesn't have the same lower-case "a" that the others do... century gothic is a commercial font only, and doesn't have the stem of the lower case "u" and Kabel has the wrong "g"... the closest one in style though is Nobel I think). So, it's some variation on that. You may need to pick a similar font instead as a replacement if the one you want ends up being like $27 on some site... remember Futura is free and you likely already have it.
