I think if you want Adsense riches then you will have to design a site (sites) around the Google search engine. Build your PR (as they advise) and if you're lucky they'll index most of your content in time. Then spend as much time researching keywords and key phrases (Adwords tool) as you do posting content. If you do this daily and spend hours doing it then if you're not earning a serious wedge by 12 months... well, screw it, at least you can say that you tried your very hardest. I think that 90% of publishers will struggle from not being 100% dedicated every single day. If you check on your stat counter and you see two or three extra uniques, then count this as progress and try to double that amount tomorrow. Keep setting little targets like this and you should only be moving in a forward direction. Consistency is key, don't give up. Just build your sites for Google dude and you should go far. I'm a newbie myself, but it's an exciting place to be when you are laying those foundations. Quality of content is important, but I think high volume is key, so long as it's unique and solves a problem. There are several great webmaster forums, but DP is the most addictive and you can find lots of useful information on here. Best of luck to you.
