Invest in someone else's idea if you can't think of one. First do a lot of brainstorming. Write down everything you can think of even if it's ridiculous.

Mate. I suggest you follow your interests. Keep the affiliate marketing as a side business for ready income and invest where your interests lie. First your select a niche, then all remains on how to make yourself stand out. Its not always about the money, its also about your field of interest.

About the Video Game industry. There's a simple rule to it, you need to stand out amongst the crowd. Get yourself handful of gamers and beta testers to voice their opinions on your site. They not only come cheap, but they are more than willing to contribute their ideas on the game. You can keep a membership price and offer special downloads to these members, something that they will deem necessary for a game. Even allow whole game downloads (Legal Means, I'm not advocating Piracy). You can contact the companies for that incentive and be there Sales Person kind of thing.

P.S. I'd be more than Happy if you can get me in one of your businesses :), I am always looking for some Freelance Work.

Soft gets popular - You earn cash - take 40% of Your earnings and hire a coder/programmer/designer to improve Your program and do this all over and over.

Nice idea but how you can be sure it's going to work. It'll require lots of work and I don't want my site to be not fully monetized if it's going to consume time.

Yeah, but content come and goes - You don't read the same article 10 times, it is just boring. Having a program which is useful and for example makes using computer easier for You will bring much more profit than content.
First - You creating a brand, which hopefully will be good and will spread to other, second You creating a program and controling a small part of this huge inetnet marketing area, and if Your program will be used over and over and for example in a year Your program becomes popular enough to have 20k/30k users You have great marketing potential IN the program ( for example Microsoft messenger displays ads on the bottom ), some build up forum, where people talks about everything, money from this product and a chance to go even higher. The history proved that it can be done - for example Orcut - developed by some guy and when it got bigger bought by Google by huge amount of money, and Google is still upgrading Orcut all the time :).

Try a worldwide free classifieds site. I am working on one that will have every city from every region from every country listed in a search engine friendly php classifieds script. I am using the same script I use for my other sites, its done me proud in a short space of time. If you are interested in investing in my project, Id do a deal on the adsense or paid promotions. Im short of cash and this project is taking ages to build as I have to enter each city manually!

The best one will be social sites that means dating, shit n all.But don't make mistakes like others do.You need something different from others.A reason for people to attract u.I could have done this but dont have funds with me.
Also whatever people nothing beats good promotion in marketing. So spend more on that rather than creating it.
