I want to create something brandable but still have no idea what is it

I have made lots of money through affiliate marketing. I have budget up to $50K for this upcoming site alone but I still have no idea what niche should I jump in. At the moment, I really want to create something brandable with unique domain name. The website will be unique and complete and of course I want this site to have many direct visitors (so I won't depend on PPC, SEO, facebook ads, etc. but real big website). My budget of course to pay for services, employees, advertising, etc.

Some people always said that I should create something that I like. But my main income (affiliate marketing) comes from something that I do not like. I like soccer and video games but those niches obviously not profitable enough unless you can create a very very big site. Different from health niche (for example) where I can easily earn 5 figure incomes per month despite my traffic is still below 100,000 alexa ranking. So what's your suggestion?

If you don't have any ideas, why not invest in someone else's idea? $50k is a lot of money, so you might even be able to fund a few projects with it. OK, it might not be your own project where you get 100% of the proceeds, but you could sure make a lot if you invest into the right idea.

Well on the web you probably want to invest that money in the following way:

    $10,000 on web development
$5,000 on web upkeep (5 months onward)
    $35,000 on marketing.

    Marketing is key.

I see what your saying. I too used to just promote other peoples products, and I made a lot of money at it too. However I felt that I wanted to create ONE big site for myself, which I could run, own, and invest into.
I could show it to people who asked, and they would not be confused (like they are when you show them your affiliate sites).

Good luck & remember, don´t spend it all in one place!

    1) Are you looking for short-term or long term profitability?

This will better determine whether you build a 'portal' style service that accumulates client loyalty. Short-term in this sense is for visitors who are primarily on the site to click the affiliate link and buy, long-term would be a blend of both, short-term (cash to keep you going) and long-term (offering the visitors real substance to come back for although they may not buy into something instantly)

    2) http://socialmediatrader.com has some excellent monthly stats of what is popular themes at the top social media sites i.e. digg, stumbleupon, etc. I think the themes may not be unfamiliar to you, but will provide an idea of the niche to go into to give you both short-term and long-term sustainability.

It can be difficult to say unless you actually conduct market research. This may sound cliche but why not go into something you are passionate about.

I have the domain name iinclude.com and I intend to use it develop a parenting website for the UK market. Since I know this field (experience and qualification), there are specific angles that I can put on a lot of information that is already out there. There will be instant revenue using affiliate products through a review system and ebooks however there is target for a long-term loyalty using a specific method. This method will be to offer components and modules for tracking children's progresses for various areas of their lives and offering 1to1 support either by my self or paid parenting experts, I would roll that aspect of it out after 8/12 months of running the site live.

I still have no idea. OK, this is what I've been thinking:
    1. soccer/football <- i had created a site about this already, it was getting around 3,000 UV per day but i only made around $400 per month through adsense. It seems without massive traffic, you won't get anything for real. And what i mean with massive traffic is really massive, even top 10,000 alexa ranking (I think) won't get you to as near as $30K per month.
    2. pc/video games review <- same thing with soccer although I never really tried it by myself. Beside advertisement, how could you make real money from it? It's almost impossible, I think, unless you have massive traffic like gamespot which requires lots of work and huge investment (then big companies will advertise on your site), you won't earn anything. Advertisement from adsense or selling affiliate games is a joke.
    3. I also have been thinking to start a money making online news site but I just think it doesn't feel right and it's way too saturated. Like johnchow.com, they actually do not offer anything although we can make real profit from this section.

*I actually love games and soccer but they are simply not profitable.

In my opinion, go to sourceforge.net - find some application/program/game that You think would be a good idea to invest. Buy whole license( buy exclusive right to the project ), create a bussiness site and start marketing/selling Your licensed product. For about first 2/3 months invest all the profits again in the project - let it evolve to something that people would be really interested. Sourceforge.net is one of many sites ( but propably the biggest of all ) that You can find peoples creating something, that is worth of investition :)

if you got the means and are looking to make some money try to get the big guns slanging in the save the environment and recycling industry. I am building my offline business in international recycling

so I am hoping others can get with the times and work with what we are all facing increased population and pollution due to the advancement of the developing world. It starts with us to train them how things are done in the modern age

thats what I would like to see people doing along side me making money while cleaning up the planet it can be done at the same time. I will be doing it.

I would probably find a niche to start a social network of some type. Best thing to do would find a niche in which you have a great interest and try to go with something that has a high advertising rate such as luxury items, health, etc. But most of all find something you are passionate with and that you would want to deal with on a day to day basis. If you can't think of a good idea than just invest your money elsewhere or find someone who has had success and invest it in them or possibly even buy an existing website.

even if this gets popular online you would still need to know how to become a software developer at some point, software is one of the biggest Internet industries making the most money ever recorded in the history of online marketing.
