Hi, i wanted a domain, I send offer to this guy, actually, I like this domain, I have send him many offer before (below $50) and he doesn't reply, so I just try send him another offer with different email and this time I just put some thousand $ in it so he might contact me back but now he reply in his email that he wants even more thousands, actually I won't buy with the offer I gave him.I just like this domain very much and I want to buy, I don't know how to get it.I have 10 - 15 nice domains, is it possible to exchange with him, is there anything I can do to get his domain, he is not even using it.I have never bought any domain before so I don't know how to find a fair price because I don't know ow much the domain price is.I just really want this domain.

    Thanks for ur advice.

    E-mail him and ask.

Can't really do much without knowing the domain... and I don't suggest you post it on a public forum.

Get over it, let it go, don't waste his time with fake offers you can't afford to pay. Can't always have what we want now can we? Check out dnscoop for domain values.

Godaddy and Network Solutions have brokering.
Dnscoop can give you a value and site stats.
Sitepoint may help you can advertise a "want to buy" or watch there to see if the site shows up.. Good luck. I had one I wanted bad to waited a year and 1/2 for it to expire and snagged it. Patience .

    4 figures? Don't get that.

I can pay max at $300, I don't know how much the domain cost, I just want some idea how to get the domain, is it a good way to talk with him on msn, again, I am afraid I won't be able to make deal because he can increase the price at his wish, he can sell it for $1000000 also if he wish, now, if I send him offer below $1000, he won't except because he thinks he alredy got a customer with more offer, should I email him and tell, all those offer were from me, so he knows that there is no one to buy from him except me.

have you considered that the current domain owner doesn't want to sell? Does he have a site up and making money? Maybe your $50 offer is an insult to him if it's really a good domain. You might consider coming a little stronger next time. Another option is to find another domain that has the same meaning.

Don't bother with GoDaddy or NetSol brokering. GoDaddy will charge $60, NetSol $19.
I had GoDaddy contact me with a low ball offer and I didn't bother to reply. In order to reply I would have to sign up with GoDaddy, sign a long legal form, give them all my contact details and I believe my credit card #. Eff that.

There is obviously a huge gap between what you can pay and what he wants. Your best bet is to just get another name. If your idea is good enough it can survive a name change. Good luck.

send him a letter with a "take it or leave it" offer and make sure it's a final amount you're willing to spend. Also make sure that you mention its for a personal site and not a business site, otherwise, he'll really want alot of $ for it...that might help your chances of getting less.

    Hello Logic here.
We receive offers each week for a name from our personal portfolio. There are several things we look at right away when we receive these offers.

1= We see what the return email addres is if it is a free account gmail, hotmail, etc. we delete and stop right there.

2= Next we use your favorite search engine and see what comes up for the name in question already.

3= We actually read what and why you want it then deside to sell it our not.
We have not ever sold a name in 10+ years.

How do we get you to sell us your name? Using this tactic when the name is owned by someone. This worked for all but 1 name we still want CaliforniaWeather.com and yes he would sell it but wanted 25,000 USD.

So actually it works all of the time then but would not pay this price our final offer was 10,000 USD.

We begin a dialog, and we lead into may we call you about this domain name?
We are in the content of the email upfront, as to who we are, and what we are wanting and what we are going to use it for? We keep our dreams about the name low key underacheiving. WHY? easy keep the owners mind from wandering into what could become of this if I sell it. i.e. how will I live with myself if this becomes the next NIKE, IBM, or etc.

    The phone call?
This way is as personal as we can get without though we have actually traveled to the owner to arrange a meeting brought a little gift and enjoyed say lunch with the owner.
Like we say at Viper Logic after we own the names we buy they are now worth more then you can afford.

As for using a broker? They have only the interest of making there charge if you use a broker use one that is he wins you pay he looses the name you do not pay a dime. As for GoDaddy offers and we get them a lot and they are simply told this:
We love the name you are wanting and you are welcome to make an offer, however we love the name so let your client know this is a one shot deal. They have never returned. WHY because there is no interest on doing so because they can see the offer needs to be real. Nothing under high $$$$.
If you are and emotional person about buying this name you so dearly love then do not call or meet him yourself you will smell of $$$$ and that will blow your deal.

Ok this just what we do and we have a 100% track record for winning using this stratigy.

    Logic...

Here's what you need to do...stand up, raise your right arm and wave goodbye to that domain.
    a) its out of your price range.
    b) your dishonest communications earlier have ruined any chance of further negotiations with this seller, trust is important.

Then come up with the money for the domain after you guys negotiate on the price. If you must have the domain, you gotta pay the price.

Maybe there is still a way if you are very serious. You say you have 10-15 domains, first you need to develop and sell as many of them as you can, then you buy 20 better domains with your proceeds, spend the next year turning those 20 domains into 20 cool websites you can sell for $1000 each....when you have accomplished this goal use a broker to anonymously offer your $20 000 for the domain on your behalf, seller will probably go for it and 1 year from today you have your dream domain and can then get rich, good luck :)

If you really want a domain name badly then you have to pay nice amount. :)

I think only that is the trick. Otherwise I also have loads of domain names I want. In fact everyone wants many many good domain names.

Mail him again, tell him that you were trying to get his attention earlier and you are sorry bout it. Then tell him what he really expects the price to be. Sometimes, honesty is the best policy.
