I want to build a website

Discussion in 'HTML & Website Design' started by bizbangbomb, Jan 17, 2009.

Hi I want to build a website for service providers. I want the site to be able to accept leads from prospective customers. Then distribute that lead to the closest service provider in there area via email. Service providers would have to sign up with us in advance.

Is there a program out there I can put on my website that will do this? Or maybe a template available?

    Thank you!

I would plan and think about all that is involved and make sure you are up to it before just starting to throw things around.

There are plenty of free template sites and such out there to get a design from..if you have some knowledge so you can modify it? Graphics or HTML/CSS?

Setting up the site to accept payment and all that is a different story..but take it one step at a time.

What is the first thing you are looking for maybe we can post you some links to help.

    Good luck bizbangbomb!

I am totally up for it. I am 100% going to do the site. I want to have it done in 7 weeks.

I can build website, and use dream weaver. If I get a template from a free site, I can edit/ upload and get the whole thing together quickly. Thatll be the easy part.

I guess I need just some sort of form and delivery system together.. thats where Im stuck at I guess. How can I connect the customers information.

Yea it will be a free site for the time being, so Im not worried about that just now.

A form system or code. A way to capture the customers info and connect them to the closest registered person in there area.

    Thanks

I don't have much knowledge on these things..not sure if there are free systems out there to do this type stuff.

Maybe start on hotscripts.com (they have PHP, ASP, C+, Java etc etc scripts and systems to use)..they may have a system that might work for you..some are free some not.

    Start there maybe?
Otherwise maybe someone else has better knowledge with this stuff. Sorry I couldnt help more.

I would use OSCommerce or CubeCart to build your store front with.

Thanks speakup, I will keep that in mind. For the foreseeable future I want this to be a free service and will not be adding a store front now.

    Thanks

I am open to any suggestions what so ever here..

    thanks!

I'd like to play for the Lakers. But I'm satisfied with buying tickets and watching. 7 weeks is a noble goal to learn a trade.

C++ knowledge will not help you in this one.
Try learning ruby on rails, it will make your site development easy

I would also be happy to pay for this project to be completed if anyone here has room for a project.

If you have HTML knowledge you can build site using Dreamweaver / Frontpage, etc. If you don't know HTML, then you can even use Microsoft word (just to save it as HTML).

There are template driven software available, such as A4Desk , Swish, etc. Which allows you build a flash website with contact form etc instantly by choosing a template and without any coding. You can build a site yourself within few hours.

You will then also need server space -- search for 'web hosting' and you will find a lot of them. And to accept payments, you can try PayPal. Or Google's solution.
