You don't become SEO GURU by just reading the ebooks. It requires alot of experimenting and then finding out the secrets... half of the ebook are crap ... the other half that teach is what is good enough to get you started....

Spot on and I have not found one that is comprehensive so you will have to look at different places. And since the industry is evolving and nobody knows everything, it would demand lots of research and experiment to accomplish the wealth of knowledge you are looking for.

Simple way out. Become a self proclaimed SEO Guru :)

I cannot think of any title more stupid to give to anybody than 'SEO guru'. Anybody with a badly designed sales page who earns just above minimum wage seems to be some kind of 'guru'. It's pathetic, I might as well call as my local grocer a Vegetable Guru.
And why the hell would anyone give you Reputation+ for asking a stupid question?

Completely agree with what smub said. Spend quality time at webmaster forums like webmasterworld.com. Also you need to have practical, hands on experience to be a master. Certain things are easily said than done. When you get down to actual work, you will realise that getting back links is not as easy as you thought, writing optimized content doesnt actually guarantee anything and so on. It takes years of experience and learning to be a master, there is no short cuts.

i think anyone that created their own software to plug an seo gap / fulfill a crazy seo dream is a borderline seo guru... :)

seriously though... there aint no ebook that is gonna teach you seo, anymore than there is one that will teach you how to become anything else...

they won;t do you any harm... but they won't helpy uo any more than getting stuck in and experimenting will.

    experience is key.

you should learn and practise it from a guru. not from books.
