SEOMoz is a must read and the produce some awesome resources.

I certainly wouldn't suggest reading forums, about 50% of the suff I read in most forums these days is completely wrong.

 

to become an expert to any field it takes a lot so much time especially when that field is not really your talent, but if you are really determine its not impossible. You have to read all the tutorials, suggestions and recommendations of other SEO not only SEO Experts and you must experiment in any way how to boost your website and of course you need to find what is the disadvantage of any techniques that your have learn to be able to become more successful to your field.

 

stay in touch with forums and post your questions, read experts thread and you will be expert.

 

participate on forums,read and update your knowledge about SEO and there you go.

 

It will not happen overnight

Seo-ing a site takes months

 

If one can become a seo professional (note i did not say expert) simply by reading, then i can see no future in this industry. To become good at what you do, you must first do it and make sure you do it right. Have lots of hands on experiences and you will be good someday.

 

Expert?
Mate I suggest you worry about reading, learning, implement and learning from the results and analyze to correct it rather than worrying about "how to become expert".

Expertise is not something you can acquire over night so do not worry about it.

I am not suppressing you. All I want to let you know is worry about finding good info, learn, implement & analyze the outcome and correct.
