I am a graphic designer. I have 12+ years experience designing with the Adobe creative suite..

But I haven't kept up with any of the current languages like CSS..

These days you can't get a full time job unless you can build the site and design it.

I've checked out local schools and they don't teach much above the basics over a 3 month or 2 year period. I can learn the basics on w3schools...

I've found tutors on Craigslist that have decent portfolios.. Tutors worked well for me and math..

I notice if you ask most Web Designers they will say they are Self Taught.. But I want to be taught the proper way to do things from scratch.. I don't want to teach myself bad habits...

Advanced CSS, PHP, Ajax, Ruby on Rails? I dunno.. What should I be learning to code?

What's the best route to take to get current with building a website to today's standards?

Understand enough CSS and PHP to create my own Wordpress or Joomla templates.. etc..

Is their such thing as "the best web design school" in the United States?

Hello, Welcome to DP. With 12 years of experience im sure you can get through to people. Me for example I need some designers for my site. Im thinking the more you work for people the more you learn from them
