You can try both. Since you are in Forex, I'm sure channeling good sign ups can get your some money too. Use a combination of both adsense and affiliates. Use https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal and find related keywords in your niche. It is best not to depend too much on keywords but deliver unique contents consistently. On your website use niche keyphrases like "forex currency trade information" will be much easier then trying to rank well in google for "forex" atleast in the initial period. Did you just buy the domain? It is a new doamin right? Then if yes again this will take some time to rank well for more competitive keyphrases. Good luck!

There are a lot of keyword analysis tools and application available online. But, I prefer to use google external keyword tool because it is free and gives good results. In the results section in GoogleKeywordExternal tool, select show all columns. There you will get average CPC rate for each keywords, competition for each keyword. Selecting high CPC with low competition is the best way to increase your earnings from adsense.
