Ok, this is the concept I had for my site: It is powered by WP, however, I dont really want it to look like a blog. The front page should be static, with the exception of 2-3 posts, with links to all recent posts nearby. However, my theme does not support widgets. Any ideas?
Does Wordpress work like Blogger where you can make a post static by setting the date far in advance?
No, I just tried that. Its a pain, bc my theme is a little dated in the sense that it is not as fresh as WP 2.x. Whats up dude.
If you are using a free wordpress blog at wordpress.com (or outdated version)then I pretty sure you'll have a tough time creating a site that acts more like a "regular" web site. Your best bet is to host with a site that provides fantastico and then auto install a wordpress blog. Once that is done the world of wordpress "plugins" will open. You can then load a "static front page widget" to make your front page appear the same every time your site is visited and then using "paging" to set up the various pages of your site. Search the words in quotes (use wordpress in the search) and things will start to come clear.
No, I host it myself. My theme does not support widgets, but I see what you are saying regarding a static page. Thanks.
Yes, this site is 100% Wordpress - I wanted to go with a look that resembled a website rather than a blog, and hopefully it worked! Toook quite a bit of time modifying css files I must say!
Looks v. cool, yup. I hate it when I bump into smart and clever people around here since it makes me realise that I'm several light-years behind!
Wordpress is the best script around for managing site-looking blogs, and hey don't forget that it generate meta tags and do it's best to get you a high rank in SE .
That is awesome Doesn't really look like a wp. i bet there is a lot of hard work going in css and things. Well done mate.
