Hello irummuneery, First I would go and learn some Javacript which is what jQuery references. http://www.w3schools.com/js/js_intro.asp (Pretty dull tutorial, but the information is very up to date and very comprehensive) Then I would go through the course below(Try not to rush through it) https://tutsplus.com/course/30-days-to-learn-jquery/ Finally I would write down all the ways you think you will be using jQuery, and create the jquery for them on your own using what you have learned. e.g. Fading gallery, slide down boxes, slideshows etc... General advice 1) every time you come across a new function/code write it out with a description of what it does on paper e.g. JAVASCRIPT > eval() > function that evaluates or executes an argument. 2) Try to create your own code rather than rely on plugins, you will learn more this way. 3) If you get stuck come back here to DigitalPoint, and copy and paste the code highlighting the problem area in red, and someone will help you. Hope that helps, and good luck.
I agree, learn online. However, a starter book is always helpful. "Sams Teach Yourself jQuery in 24 Hours" is a good place to begin. Wet your whistle and move on to expanded versions. http://www.hartmannsoftware.com/books/COM-.-9780672335563
I recommend the code school courses. Very interactive. http://www.codeschool.com/paths/javascript#jquery-basics
I've seen those both websites: code.org and http://www.codecademy.com but code.org refers to latter so it is the same, anyway. I could not recognize which programming language they learn there because Javascript and php are not the same although they have a lot of similarities. They learn very basics so those websites are for very beginners.
