Get backlinks with keywords in the anchor text from quality websites in your niche. You can "guest blog" by contacting other similar blog owners -- give them a quality post, where at the end they link to your blog. That's one way to use the content you already have to get some backlinks. Another method is to use Article Marketing. The first step though is always keyword research. Go to Google, type in Keyword, and use the Keyword Tool to find keywords with good traffic and write articles for those keywords. Basically to write an SEO article you put the "keyword" in the title, and distribute the keyword 2-5% throughout the article. Then post that article to a website like ezinearticles or goarticles. In the resource or author box, you can put a link to your site along with a little blurb which gets people interested enough to click through. Once you have an article, you can convert it into a Slideshow with Power Point and submit it to Slideshare.net and Scribd.com. You can add music or voiceover and submit it to YouTube and the other video sharing sites. Since you already have a bunch of articles, I'd recommend this conversion method to leverage that content, and use it to build backlinks from article directories, slideshow, video, and guest blogs to get backlinks targeting various keywords. Try to find keywords with little competition, as in less than 20,000 competing pages in Google when you type in the keyword in quotes. Go to Google and type in a keyword with quotes "keyword phrase 1" and see how many competing pages. Find the golden nugget keywords with good traffic and low competition. It's easy to rank for these keywords with articles/videos/scribd/slideshare.
