Your best bet would be to go with a VPS. File sharing can use up quite a bit of RAM, for stability I'd recommend you work with a vps, what kind of budget do you have?

Actually I am running short of money to buy a VPS so I am wondering which shared hosting would allow image sharing scripts. I don't think I will open a file host but I may install a image sharing script.

You may have to contact individual hosts and ask. And make sure you read the TOS. I'm not familiar with hosts that may specialize in this. Hosts that don't oversell shouldn't have a problem with it but you should ask to be sure anyway.

How much do you pay for shared hosting?

You can find a nice vps for $6/Month nowadays..

what's your definition of nice? For that much you either aren't going to get a lot of resources, probably comes with webmin CP at most, OR the host is overselling the server greatly if they promise you a lot of resources.

You should always do your research. The last thing you want is to pay for resources your host can't ever deliver.

I always do my research. You need to brush up on yours.

    https://www.burst.net/linvps.shtml - First Package

Of course it doesn't offer cPanel, but the OP didn't list it as a requirement. BurstNET is a reputable company. 512Mb ram / 1Ghz guarenteed cpu for $6, that's my definition of nice.

The research part was intended for the OP, not you. And I'm aware of burst.net and I agree they are a reputable company, but that's one out of maybe 50 other companies offering the same thing, and burst is probably the only one that will remain true to their word. Thus, the research.

    Sorry for the misunderstanding...

I have forgotten to mention that most vps's are not managed, and you must at least know some basic linux.

You can manage linux? If you can then burst would be the cheapest reliable VPS you can find imo.

But it would help if you tell us a budget (with numbers), it would help us help you out because we aren't sure what your idea of "running out of money" is. It could mean you have a $100 to spare or $1 to spare :)

Burst seems quite nice. My budget would be around that same range 3-7 dollars per month Thatswhy I was opting for a shared one

Well since my mind was with shared before opening this thread Control panel of shared is surely Cpanel but I think VPS comes without Cpanel. The Cpanel comes at a price right. I have used someone else's VPS once so I think the basci packages usually comes with that HyperVM thing with LXadmin. So do not have choices..lol ( I know Cpanel adds to the cost )

Dedicated server is best choice for future when your site will require real web space. Even if you go for VPS, there are certain terms and conditions which varies from hosting company to company. I suggest you go with well established good company and confirm regarding your future website intention whether they will be able to support you or not.

Yup man I agree dedicated servers are the best for hosting and I too plan to get my site on to dedi (i.e. after getting good enough money for doing that ) but for now a Shared or a Cheap VPS is only what I can manage. Well I play a lot around with scripts and I am planning to open a Image sharing site, and some pligg, dolphin based sites. I just asked in the forum because I though some other people also may have had the same requirements as which I had and they may know the answer. Thanks
