Some time ago someone did build a Chinese language directory using our script.

It took him some time and effort as he had to get a list of the English language strings then translate and add each string to the translation file. The templates also have to be translated but that's not such a big deal as you'd have to edit them for customisation anyway. The public interface is Chinese but the admin is mixed/English.

From memory for search to work you have to ensure that your host has set MySQL to include 3 letter words in full text searches as the default minimum length of 4 stops it being able to find some words.

I think eSyndiCat supports multiple languages but I don't know if Chinese is on their list.

Can't you simply use any directory script and create your own/modify any language file? phpLD support several languages, and you should be able to set it on the ACP.

Go with PHPLD v3 and you have the ability to edit the language files, simply edit every phrase into Chinese.
