I Wanna Start Slapping Back

Ok... The almight "G" has for whatever reason decided to demote my directory from a PR3 to a PR0 with their last adjustment. I Don't know why either... as I never purchased or sold any links for it. (was all free submissions)

I notice most directory owners are now looking to offer more content as a way of digging out of this predicament... but what about the other way around ?

I have been thinking of adding small content related directories as a subdomain of some of my other sites. It would be like adding a forum or gallery to a site... as an "added bonus" for our site visitors. I was planning on keeping the submissions related to its niche and only allowing recipricals.

You think this will be good for my sites... or will I end up getting slapped even harder when "G" decides to drag down everything they can with our directories ?

I dont think the location of a directory - main domain or sub domain will affect googles stance on it.

Run a niche specific directory and keep it clean.

Right. Although, it may be a little less 'visible' that way, if you don't market it like a regular directory.

It's also a way to possibly get links back to you main site if you require a recip or have it as an option.

    doubt it will work
directories that arent meeting a certain number of factors arent gonna find it easy to get or keep pr especially on inner pages
pr on directories have been targetted and thats not gonna change soon imo

just forget about the pr and build backlinks and add unique content
submitters with any kind of knowledge will still submit

Do what I am doing, use yahoo search.

Seriously, gooogle has decided to take pot shots at anyone and everyone that might be cutting into their revenue and it is not only directories but all websites.

    Content will definitely help you.

But can't say if it will be back, so better create a new one ;)

Yeah, maybe your domain is already blacklisted, so create a new one afresh. :)

Are you sure you aren't inadvertently linking to bad neighbourhoods? Rather than turning it into a portal or adding articles and basically turning it into something it's not, perhaps you just need to weed out the link rot?

That could be Obelia... I guess I should go back and double check some of those sites that got approved. The site is still indexed and all... so I guess its not all that bad... its just the PR that got slapped ;)

I am not sure it will work, its hard to say. The thing with page rank is that it seems to move up and down without much understanding to it. Try and keep it clean and make sure you don't link just to any site, i have noticed that affects the page rank more then anything else.

You asked how to slap back? If google doesn't support me as a webmaster then I won't support them by using their search. Multiply that by 100,000 people and we can make a dent.
