I wanna post a link on my homepage and not blogroll, please help!

    Hi friends,

    I am doing a link exchange with someone for the first time and wanna post a link on my wordpress homepage blog. Can anyone help me how to do that.
    I dont want to give the link under the blogroll section.

    You can use a trick for this, there are many advertising management plugins for Wordpress. Many of those plugins have the feature to show ads only on home page sidebar, or only on post pages etc.

    Just install any of those plugins and then create a new ad (just a text link ad) with the link you want to show. Then set the option only to show in home page.

    Where do you want to show the link?
    If your homepage is not a static page, you need to put the link in index.php.
    To put the link in the footer, place it in footer.php
    If you want to add it in the sidebar, but not in blogroll. Just go to widgets>Text> and add link in the text box.

    Create a static page for the home page, then edit the page to insert the link.

    Hello, login into admin and go here wp-admin/options-reading.php and check the "Front Page Display" select the "Your Latest Post".

    I come back here after so long because I had one more query, if you check my blog all the categories are displayed under the title, which is a very huge list. Is there any way by which I select only a handful of categories at that place? or just remove it completely? please let me know. thanks.
