A blogspot blog is fine. True, it gets indexed faster, but you're quite limited on what you can do on blogspot. A professional blogger always goes for a wordpress blogsite. The topic should be one which you're familiar with.

You can choose either blogspot blog or blogger blog its really on your choice but I prefer blogger for newbies since it has easier features but obcourse you can always make both blogs from different flatform
