I created a Wordpress.com account last April, and wrote a one page (300 words) paragraph promoting my website. I hardly got any hits to my website from it, maybe 4-5 hits in that time period..to me, it was basically nothing more than link juice. Out of curiosity, I just checked that Wordpress.com page's page rank...it's at PR3...what the hell? I'm not even kidding when I say that it has nothing but one short paragraph and was never updated since April!
I would disagree, most important is what one is trying to accomplish, if he wants better PR good links would be more important.. But I agree, after visitors, everything comes by itself...
Yeah, but starting a blog with pagerank is a great way to start. If you're looking to make some money from your pagerank, here's a great guide to help you make money online.
yes wordpress.com tag system is great...for each tag category it has high ranking page...so u get backlinks when u include that category..andf also many other links..... it does SEO for blogs.... backlinks in tags and other places so good pr there and wordpress.com blogs and posts appear at top of searches...
Now you've go some good PR3 link juice going to your site, and probably just to your site. One thing's for sure, this SEO work takes time. You reap the benefits a good couple of months later that it's sometimes hard not to loose focus and motivation. But it's great when you've stuck it out and it starts paying off in terms of SERPs and traffic if not $.
I will try this out today, this sounds great. Especially for new bloggers, thsi could be a nice help. Does the same go with blogger.com and others? Does anyone know?
I was thinking that Wordpress.com could be used to build up new blog's PR. By creating a blog on wordpress.com and using the custom domain mapping all the WP.com tag pages with good PR will link to the domain. After the PR has been built up the domain/blog/content can be moved to a self-hosted wordpress install without the user really knowing. Anyone see any problems with this?
The only drawback with wp.com is that you're limited in what you can do with themes and plugins, or has that changed?
Yeah you cant use any plugins and themes are limited. Although you can usually customize the theme colors or pay to have full editing of CSS. The other drawback is that they don't allow any sort of monetization. You can't edit the theme to put in Adsense, and no affiliate links allowed except for one text link in the sidebar. But I think it'd still be a good way to build up PR
