took it off but this week sucks

I took it off but this week my adsense really went down to the bottom so i do not know if this helps. I guess its going to hit even harder when people start looking fotball and not internet :(

I don't think that "advertise on this site" affects CTR at all.

I believe it does, some people really hate to this "ad" or "advertise". As soon as they see the words they tend to look away.

Maybe you look away when you see the word "advertise" but I don't. The largest sites earning the most revenue all have "advertise on this site" displayed. It's not beneficial to remove a source that could bring you revenue if an advertiser wants to target your site.

Um, then don't do it, but let everyone else decide for themselves. ;)

and the downside will be, if decent advertiser from intel.com or amd.com or some other giants to small medium company visits your site and they find it's decent to them, and would like to advertise on your site using the site target features, what will happen if they dont found the link "Advertise on this site"??

Oh, of course. Because guys like amd.com and "some other giants to small medium company" are clueless about how to advertise with Adwords. I mean, just because Adsense/Adwords is the premiere dominant advertising entity on the Internet right now, how can we expect people to figure out this Adword thingamagig without us holding their hands. You're so right.

just took mine off I have had 2281 hits on my google banners today with only 4 clicks. anything that improves it even slightly will be better than what it is at the moment.

P.s. what is site targeting as I would love to get paid for impressions

Site targeting is when an advertiser decides to buy out your Adsense inventory with their ads. It usually pays higher than regular CPC ads because the advertiser has to outbid all the ads that would normally show on your site, thus you are guaranteed higher earnings. Or at least that's the theory.

Ok, it's been a few days with the "advertise on my site" taken out and my CTR has stayed average. This trick did not work for me at all.

I took my link off and did see an increase in clicks. I think it has to do with the look. It's easier to blend with just one google tag line instead of two.
