Why? According to Alexa, Yahoo! gets more traffic than MSN and Google. Also, what's wrong with SEOing for Yahoo! and getting the extra traffic? ~Sohan
and what if one day you wake up and see all your listings in google gone? whilst google may dominate - there are terms in yahoo that will deliver a good amount of traffic. just look at http://www.vretoolbar.com/keywords/
It's probably prudent to SEO for yahoo. I would take traffic from any source possible, if you don't, it's leaving money on the table.
I have a good rank in google, but i also seo my website for both yahoo.co.uk and yahoo.com. i receive about 25% of my traffic from yahoo so its an important part of my business that i rank well in yahoo, so i do think it is worth spending the time or money in optimising for yahoo simply because there is so many customers you can gain using yahoo.
Yahoo does get more traffic than Google. The problem is, not everyone who visits Yahoo is going there for search. Their sports section is rather popular (especially fantasy sports), their games section, mail, finance, profiles, dating, news, etc., etc. More people search on Google than Yahoo period. Does that mean you shouldn't try to rank in Yahoo? Definitely not. Hell, try to rank on Ask.com if you can! And Ask.com has far, far less searches than the two big guys.
In SEO nobody gets instant results on google, so it’s good to target Yahoo initially. And step by step you can focus on Google. One more point, if you are focusing on USA market then yahoo have a good Search Share. So neglecting yahoo can slow down your business growth.
In many of my lead generation projects, I just get traffic from Yahoo using there YPN program along with the search engine traffic, and that traffic is cheaper at times, along with making it more beneficial in transferring them into verified sales. Those, who dont wanna try always got a choice!
seo = free traffic - (time+effort) with efficiency being constant free traffic from any site is good as long as its not from adult sites,
website optimization should be for both yahoo and google. there is not much difference in their optimization only metas, h, and these little things are different.
