Yes, that looks true.. But I want SERP, not PR.. PR is just good for being respected, nothing else in my opinion...

They keep Page Rank from bleeding to other pages. So if you do not want PR going to you contact page you should use NOFOLLOW BUT

I don't really care because I am looking for results not better PR. I focus more on build lots of long tail anchor text links to various key portal pages on my sites. It is easier to rank well and the traffic converts 10 times better.

I second you on that! I would never consider PR before SERP!

You are not crazy, but not entirely true also. NOFOLLOW doesn't stop bots from indexing the page --- it only stops pages from bleeding PR there.

You know, links may benefit SERPs in more way than one;)

In Google -- no, it's positive that they don't pass PR/link weight. In Yahoo and MSN --- yes, they are penalized but still pass on some weight.

I'd use nofollow/noindex on pages that I don't want to show up in SERPS (some pages aren't good landing pages). And on some outbound links

There are people on webmasterworld who claim that putting nofollow on frequently repeated link on their sites helped with SERPS, but there were other potential factors.

Ok, have no foundation for this but here is my brainstorming for the hour.

If G (and the others) were smart they would assign more value to links that are nofollowed. Why? Because the in vogue SEOs will not use these links for linkbuilding and see their only value in direct traffic.

Well traffic from nofollow and SERPs is similar traffic in my opinion, and neither cares about PR. So, if they were smart, they would give nofollowed links a boost in the SERPs.

Hi mate, I don't think so. I think google never count nofollow backlinks but nofollow backlink will help you drive visitor to your site directly.
This is just my opinion, only google knows. Just keep our work to build more and more backlinks.
