So, a couple of days ago, my brother used my PC cause he have to do some projects at school. I don't know which sites he accessed but lately, PC my have been restarting every 2 mins. And whenever I try to access my files, the explorer window pops up again and again, opening several windows at the same time :( I don't know if I got a virus because I checked the system, I cleaned it....reformatted it but it's still happening!! I'm about to lose my head....please somebody with their super techy skills help me??

P.S. if this is the wrong section, please feel free to move it on the appropriate section.

    Thanks in advance...

Have you tried AVG or any of the other free virus scanners?

if you have another operating system on your computer go into that one and check around in your hard drive for your infected operating system. If you find out you truly did get a virus next time you reinstall your operating system you should to get an antivirus program like avast

Get a Bitdefender AntiVirus. That's an excellent one.

Try to use your hardisk on infected computer as external hardisk ( use kabel IDE to USB or S-ATA to USB) and try scan to another computer ( with antivirus and antispyware updated). You can search on my site to find best anti-virus and anti-spyware recomended using AVG or NOD32 + ad aware + hijackMe).

    Thanks

Congratz, you have found another user having the same problem.

In my case, i just restarted the computer and ran a virus scan which removed the cookies/cache and other temporary internet files.

I think you have been using Vista. If that doesnt solve, i would recommend you to give a nodge to the Microsoft support who might inform you if its a bug or not.

    Good Luck!

(for an alternatice, use Firefox or Google Chrome).

You formatted the hard disk and still you have the problem?

That is really very weird......but it might also mean that there is some problem with the hardware installation.

    Regards,

No antivirus will work now :p , well i also experienced this kind of problem. if you want to fix your pc then reformat your pc . i think you have created many partition but reformatted only cdrive, look that virus is spread in your whole hard disk. so reformat all hard disk. when you installing window using bootable disk then it ask you to repair then don;t repair the window. install fresh window . then will it ask you to which part you want to install . then delete all parts first by selecting all partition one by one. just select partician press D and then enter . when you deleted all then create the drives again and install window .

WARNING: this will delete all data from your pc and you have no chance to take backup. and never use pendrive or other storage media to take backup always use cd and dvd. and don;t take backup of executable files. i was infected by this kind of virus 1.5 year ago.

IMO, AVG is worse then having a virus. It will scan but get rid of nothing, at least that is what I have experienced.

Try out ComboFix, that will get rid of any viruses at least for the meantime.
Then scan the PC with Gary Utilities, that will help you fix broken applications and any viruses.

The above tools are free and well worth a try, I recommend you also buy Kaspersky to stay safe in the future!

    Best of luck!

You said you have formatted your drive .I will assume that you have formatted your one drive like c:/ . Now a days viruses are coming out which will automatically revive even when you have formatted your root drive and installed windows on it again ( virus will put itself in every drive) . The best way to get rid of them is completely format your harddrive. There is no chance that problem still persists after that . And by the way antivirus are nowadays outdated compared to viruses .When I was using norton , the first thing that virus has done is disabled the norton.
