At the very least, links offer inroads to your website as a traditional marketing tactic. Their importance manifests itself in untold ways...

    Mr.,

Rethink your strategy to be offering SEO services. Link building IS SEO. Onpage changes, title tags, alt attributes everything donr correctly, you would be there in the game but ranking nowhere near teh top 30 depending upon the niche you are in. If you are in a real uncompetitive and narrow niche, might be possible taht you rank in top 20, but not above. And who anyways wants to rank well in a niche where there is no money!!

How can you have good Seo without getting links to the webpage? Onpage seo does not work without offpage seo. I hope you can read up more on this topic

Sounds like we have a winner.
Whats is a good amount of links to have? I suppose it depends on your competitors.

Though for the thread's sake Link Building is definitely whats giving me the most results :)

Building backlinks is a type of SEO! From the experience of practically everyone who has ever made a sucessful site, backlinks are a necessary thing, even if you don't place them yourself, they contribute greatly to PR and SE rankings. Though on page SEO is also important, it is not a solution on its' own.

You must be kidding. So your SEO doesn't involve link building? Just on-page SEO?
In my experience a lot of backlinks and a good old domain do wonders even with crappy on-page SEO.
