Every incoming link is good. Right ? Every outgoing link is bad. Right ? So from every link exchange someone benefits and someone does not. Now, theres a law in physics that says "Nothing is gained, nothing is lost, everything is transformed" (it's refering to energy). So the "overal pagerank" (wich I like to see as energy moooving on the internet) search engines give out to webpages is constant. It must be, because, if not, then all the webpages on the net would keep rising and rising, wich ofcourse is not true. Pagerank is continuously mooooving between webpages. So really, there's a battle that can't be won by link exchanges, the more you get the more you loose. I really hope you get what I am saing here . Oh and I bet the people who make search engine algorithms have this in mind. This is something that was buging me for a while. If you think it's silly, i'm sorry... this is my first post at DP ( Hy everyone ). So am I going wrong somewhere ?
My friend..You are absolutely wrong... And told you that outgoing link is bad. Why?? If your outgoing links are targeting to the good niche site, then its really not bad. Like if you keep relationship with good neighbor then thats really not bad... By the by, most welcome to DP. Thanks w.s
Link exchange isn't a waste of time. You just have to choose your link partners wisely. Link with quality websites with high PR.
Don't engage in link exchange schemes. Be aware that link exchange programs or deals that promise to boost your site visibility with a minimum effort might entail some corrective action from Google. Our Google Webmasters Guidelines clearly address this issue under "Quality Guidelines – basic principles". Avoid engaging in these kind of schemes and don't build pages specifically for exchanging links. Bear in mind that it is not the number of links you have pointing to your site that matters, but the quality and relevance of those links. http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/
The moment i read your post it gave me a one good laugh ha ha ha But i find your observations are very INTERESTING and Unique the bottom line is,...rather than accepting what is already out there, you made an attempt to look at it in a different perspective which is of course very good. And all those BIg shots out there who have created something for the benefit of entire human kind has a one quality in common which is, They always question and look at things in a different way compared to the avg person. So you do have a point when you say "Nothing is gained, nothing is lost, everything is transformed" But like everyone else said , when it comes to out goin links, as long as your linking to relevant sites with good quality, it COUNTS BIG TIME. Keep thinking different, and do not accept things for as it is, always observe, research, question and then try to come to your own judgment. Good luck and Welcome to the DP world - You have a bright future
Link Exchanges for the most part do suck.. not because of SEO , but because of People. Everyone want an exchange that benefits them, but most are not willing to do the same. I have been looking for link exchanges from sites with good content related to my niche. Everyone wants to give me a link on the back page one of their new sites with nothing going on with it, in exchange for me to link on my front page to a totally different site. WTF is that? I know the concept of wanting to link to sites, purely because they have good content is strange in a world where people spend more time on SEO than making a good site, but, I can get PR without linking one by one, to average sites just because they just happen to get a PR3 on the last update. Linking sucks because most webmasters are selfish. Give me a good link to my main site, and I will put you on the back page somewhere on a new site. It ain't happening
i dont agree with you . link exchanges are not waste of time but you must focus on some criterias for the link exchanges. the most of these criterias is making link exchange with related site. this will boost your serp
yep your correct, that's why you have to submit your link to one way link sites such as articles, press releases, web directories, and fill your page/blog with rich content so people naturally add links to your thingamajigger for reference.
I agree with you in general. The only problem is that it is not so easy to find good link partners as link exchange has become way too hyped and overpowered the true SEO. So, those who are into link exchange, the majority are thinking SEO = link exchange. They tend to offer bad deals as they don't sometimes even recognize what are better ways to exchange links. There are, however, those who understand and take advantage of link exchange as a link building method. I honestly think DP's link exchange forum is the best place because more people here know about SEO better. I had a great experience once too
i do link exchange, it is the onlyway I did this time, and my PR increase form 0 to 5 and I have lot of backlink, and visitor for sure..! so what's wrong with link exchange..
link exchanges is not suck, maybe link exchanges is the best way to increase rank if you know how...compare it with article submissions, if you don't have good content articles, you will get nothing
Well, well, well wast of time. He is partly right. Time of exchanging links passed away. Because 1. There are directories for each niche 2. Link exchange mainly make website with low PR or put them on page with low PR, often 0 3. There are many other effective approaches nowaday Yes, I agree with people some benefit of course present, but estimate your time and you will see that you are in lost not in profit fron this action Time is money.
