    Hi,
some time ago I was playing around and found a bounch of names.
I spent $800 in domain names. All of them sounded good at the time, and I even can imagine a site with most of the names. But looking at the names later, I just don't know... and they are too many for me to develop.

Is it anybody out there with a good day and willing to give me a hint about how much some of them could appraise for? :D Here are some names:

    ALLADSHOME.COM
    BADCREDITNOMORE.COM
    BESTCASHBUYERS.COM
    BOATADSHERE.COM
    CARSGIANTSALE.COM
    CASHBUYERSONLINE.COM
    CHEFSHERE.COM
    CHRISTINFINITY.COM
    CREDITORIGINATOR.COM
    CUISINEDIVINE.COM
    DARE2BUY.COM
    DARE2SHOP.COM
    DARETOSHOPONLINE.COM

    Thanks

    Thanks Andy,

I thought badcreditnomore.com for a credit repair agency. Unfortunately they are very bussy these days... The same goes for creditoriginator.com

bestcashbuyers.com would work for a directory of investors who buy properties cash, or maybe for the image site of one of them. They take properties for a fraction of the price, but having cash to use, the closing is sure and it could be done in 15 days. The same goes for bestcashbuyers.com

The others are easy to figure out.

Those with "dare" are a bit challenging for a store... they might work for a site collecting all the scams around...

I thought chefshere.com as a directory of chefs. I like to do sites based on directories but tending to create communities. That is, for the public is a directory and info site, but for registered users (those who appear in the directory) is like a lil home, with info about their business, forums, etc.

christinfinity.com is a church site name (I do have too many of these...).

Well, I don't know. I have some names that are really pretty (for me at least) like justwaves.com, classypooch.om, golferarea.com, hobbydates.com, sinnertopia,com... I'm not sure if I would sell those.

I have more than 150 names and I'm ready to let go some of them. I don't have enough time to develop all of them.

Anyway, thanks again for your help.

The issue, of course, is that if $800 seems expensive to you, the next year brings another $800+ in renewals... The danger of spec names is that there may or may not be a buyer before you have to renew.
The names mostly strike me as "speculative" (None with intrinsic value, like 3 letter, 3 character, 5#, etc.), and require a determined buyer with deep pockets to make the purchase worth your while.
    Best of luck.

Every speculative investment has something of a bet. I could afford the renewals if I'm sure it worth it. The thing is that I bought the last property with $3000 down and 0 cash flow that will be possitive in about 2 years, will this beat that? I'm not sure...

I bought some names that are strongly niche oriented, for example some with the words "loan originator" that only make sense among members of NLC, some with "cash for your house" or variations that could only be sold to to cash investors.

Some religious names. It is a niche that is growing fast, but I'm not sure if I want to keep them.

I didn't really buy the names from the investor point of view, more as developper to be able to offer the name as part of the package.

Thanks or the feedback. It was very helpful.

I have also purchased quite a few domains with thoughts of developing them. However as the reality of how much effort was required I let some go that I now regret!

Placing a free classified ad script on the domain BOATADSHERE.COM wouldn't take much time. With a few decent links & AdSense it should more than pay the domain renewal costs.

A free classified ad script that I plan to try in the near future is GeoClassifieds Lite.

    Thanks myhart,
that's a good idea. And thanks for the tip on the script. I was thinking on Noah's classifieds, it comes with cpanel so it is very easy to install, or some of the options under joomla. I have been playing around with it for a year and, not being an expert, I have managed to make things happen so far.

But I will deffinitely give it a try to GeoClassifieds Lite. Thanks again.

I read that there is a security problem with the Noah's classified script and that it is no longer supported? Do a Google search for "Noah's classified security" to read more about this.

A long as I know, it is not the way Classified scripts usually work. The idea is that you allow the public, registered or sometimes not registered users to post their own ads.:D Or you post them yourself.

I haven't played with Ebay's ads so far. Look for something in Ebays that sounds like "for developpers". Most of what you need is probably there. ;)

Im sorry Ana, but i cant see value in any of them..

I use my appraisal methodology based upon "would I register these if they were available?" And from the list youve posted Id have to say "no"..

having 3 word phrases (which is all the rage at the mo) is different to having brandable 3 and 4 word domains..

There is some value in these (imho) but only developed. As resale value you could probably get $$$ to an end user - but only maybe. You could flip these wholesale for probably high $$..

But I think thats the problem for domain name investors walking the .com road, there is only non-phrases (brandable) / words left.

Even ccTLD's are becoming overtly subscribed nowadays.

If you are thinking of investing further, my advice to you would be buy less domains with more quality or find single keyword domains (in your subject matter of choice) in a ccTLD - that way you can devop your site with the use of sub domains and sub pages. I have Airport.sc and have developed the site to have NewYork.Airport.sc e.g. "New York Airport Source" - this way the possibilities are endless (for want of a better phrase).

If I were you, id look to flip / get your money back / drop 90% of your domains and use the money raised to buy (probably from another domain name investor) a really good domain.

    Custom design...?

Why not buy "MyPooch".net/info - could maybe be a play on MySpace?

Edit** And in anycase, if you have adsense or similar and want to at least return your investment, check my signature and sign up to 1plus.net. Your domain/s will look like this and you'll get all the revenue.. :)

    Hi badger,
thanks for the comments and the advice. I think you are right. :) I have been very carefully so far, I mean, only buying names I really liked for developping myself. But this last set of names... I should probably have studied the market before investing in them.

Never mind, I will probably develop those that worth it and cut losses for those that are not too good.

    "Airport.sc"... NICE!!

" Custom design...?" LOLOLOL I did it. It is a Mambo site with heavy customization. My partner was supposed to add the content (the description of the 235 pure breeds we feature) and send out the invitations for joining the site. But apparently she couldn't because the look was "not right", after 5 different templates, all of them good, I just got tired. It is her playground now...(we went from Page Rank 4 to 3 when she decided that all that writing there was "not pretty" lol). Mambo can manage about 100,000 registered users maximum without driving you crazy, and like all the users are members of the directory the projected revenue charging a standard membership (about $50) is actually very good.

"If I were you, id look to flip / get your money back / drop 90% of your domains and use the money raised to buy (probably from another domain name investor) a really good domain." You want to buy?? :D

    Thanks again :)
