So I put one of my articles up on a new wordpress.com account. Within 24hrs it was indexed on the 2nd page about half way down, I was quite suprised. So I got trigger happy and pinged it from 3 different ping websites so probably a total of over 100 pings, and I made a few backlinks for it here and there. I check today, its no where to be found under its keyword. Completely removed....
Was your page indexed at Google? Google likes new pages but from my experience, they like them for up to 1 month, not 1 day. I have seen my sites go to the top of Google and Yahoo for less than a day only to go back to where they were, at 20+ rank. There is something that the engine liked about your blog when they had it at the top. Maybe it was the best site for your keyword phrase at that time. There is a possibility that there is an engine penalty for too many backlinks at one time, from them being software-added.
Well good news, I just checked again and my site went from non existant to on the first page about 8 or 9 down. Pretty sweet considering the keyword is pretty competitive...
