I think I am being spammed

My site has gone from having 65 backlinks to 300+ in about a week. They are all according to Backlink watch from the same site.

I think my site is being spammed with backlinks from this site. If so how can I stop it?

Have you checked where the site is linking from? If it's a spam site, just make sure you don't link back to them :)

    Hi there,
No further linking in that site can save you. Also contact to webmaster of that site and tell him to remove your site from his site.

    @theplastickid,

I once had the same problem and a quick email to the webmaster got it resolved. Email and ask them to either show you where your link is placed or stop spamming you. Some dirty brain-dead webmasters play this trick in hopes that you will link back to them when they've not even linked to you.

    Good luck

It's most likely something that's happening because of the structure of their site, without any ill-will intended or accrued. If you (or someone else) put a comment with a link in some blogs, or if they include you in their blog roll, it can get included in the template and duplicated on all pages - it's unlikely to do any harm - Google will just ignore the duplicated links.

I don't think it will cause any harm to your site if the site that is linking to you is not spam.

Dont worry. I posted 2 comments to Reuters blog and ended up with 500 backlinks from the 2 articles. When I check the webmaster report, I realized it's due to all the tagging and internal linking. In the end, I got the 500 backlinks from practically every page in Reuters that are internally linked to that 2 articles.
I think the backlinks you see are probably due to the archiving and tagging.

I agree w/ magda. It's likely something like a blog that has a "Recent Comments" widget in the sidebar of every page on their site. If you comment on one of their posts and Google or Yahoo! crawls that site immediately after, you can get credit for tons of backlinks. But just as fast as they come, they will go. After 10 more people comment you'll likely disappear as will the links.

It's not likely to cause any harm. It's the nature of certain types of sites, like blogs. I'm sure the search engines, especially Google, have accounted for it in their "spam" detection filters.

If you provided your URL and the site that is "spamming" you with links then we could take a look see... But without details, everyone here - myself included - are merely throwing out wild guesses based on limited information.

As long as you don't link those sites from your website, you are safe.

It is known as black hat technique to build massive backlinks on competitors website to get them penalized from search engine.

Anyone can harm any site if this type of backlinks taken into account.

Luckily, Google does not give credit to this type of backlinks and if yes, it would just help you rank higher.

The most important factor here is link from your website to this spam sites. Don't link to bad neighborhood sites as it will most likely will get you penalty.

I think it won't be a problem. If you getting so many links from High PR sites (pr4 and above), you may get penalize.

It's not a problem mate, you cannot control what other people do and therefore you cannot be responsible for it.

i think its not a problem because you didn't do it purposely right? and also when you put a signature in a forum to get back links each time when the post updated its creates a new page.
