I take back everything negative I've said about MSN search

Google is obviously totally F*d up. After getting some issues resolved with my new web log reporting software package, I was able to run the numbers and see how the last 38 days have been. G is now delivering just 6.3% of the SE traffic to my website and MSN is delivering 58.5% of the SE traffic. Yahoo is at 33.8%. If it were not for MSN and Yahoo, my traffic numbers would be in the toilet. My traffic numbers took a big hit at first, but the traffic is back up to where it was prior to the 3Feb update.

As much as I hate to admit it, MSN search has really delivered and totally picked up the slack where G fell flat on their face.

As an asside, here are the other SE figures:
    AltaVista .7%
    Overture .4%
    Mamma .2%
    search.com .1%
    hotbot .1%
    iwon .05%
    looksmart .03%

I knew it would happen :D:D

    Haha - Just kidding.

But seriously, MSN has enough cash behind it to be able to compete with ANYONE...

Gotta love the power of marketing (When it works in your favor).

Do you rank exactly the same for all three (#1 in all three for instance)

This is the only way you can make a conclusion in regard to the percentage of traffic delivered.

On lets say most of the less competitive keywords i rank #1 on all SE's however the more competitive onces i rank #1 on all SE's except for Google. If i wouldnt be running my adwords campaign my traffic would be way less from G. Now that MSN is delevering more traffic im even thinking about stopping my adwords campaign.

You should be judging your AdWords campaigns on their own merit. Either they make you money or they don't. To me thats pretty cut and dry.

If you are doing it to make some kind of statment or protest then go for it. That just makes the ads cheaper for the rest of us.

No, and that's my point. I used to rank #1 on G for most of my search terms. Now I'm lucky if I make the top 100 ever since the 3Feb update. I'm still where I was in MSN and Yahoo. This is why the traffic from G is so dismal, no one can find me there anylonger. [IMG]

The problem is Google is trying so hard to push commercial searches to their Adwords program.

Luckily my sites, for the most part, are still ok in Google. I always have my ecommerce sites set up on a different URL than the static "info" sites.

The ecommerce sites have taken a hit but the info sites have mad up for it. So it's a balancing act which I belive I can handle...FOR NOW!

You need to remember that something like 85%+ of all searches are "non-commercial". So as long as G. feeds these non-commercial searches with good results, they'll most likely remain on top.

We have some sites that are in the same boat where MSN and Yahoo! are pretty much picking up where G left off. I am just hoping that at some point in the near future, things will go back to "normal" at G and we will all see a big widfall. Baby needs new shoes.

Google dropped one of my sites descriptions and page titles (but its still in the index, but only shows oneline, no description and stuff) so MSN is giving me a lot of traffic to. I'm actually going to start using MSN to search instead of Google now.. this is the first microsoft thing I actually like :D

Then mine must be in the 15% that is not showing up. Other than offering a t-shirt for sale, my site is purely informational.

I'm actually considering doing the same. I figure if that's where my bread is buttered, it's worth using. I really hate it that G has forgotten where they came from and why they became number one. They've just gotten too damn big for their britches and it will be their undoing.

Im getting about 70% google, and about 26% MSN from the bots. I get 93% of my traffic from google, an only 3% from MSN. I'm going to start working on my MSN results, as they seem to be taking off really well.

My MSN results have been nothing short of stellar, while Google doesn't even find me in the top 100 for any of my targetted keywords. I actually hit the #1 spot on MSN for "Dave Chappelle tickets", and am doing pretty well with Yahoo as well.. But I'm not ranking at all with Google. When I ran the sandbox detection tool on seomoz.com, I got the following results, can anyone figure out why this is happening and if there's something else I should be doing?

    Google Not in Top 100
Google - allinanchor Not in Top 100
    Google - allintitle 9
    Google - allintext 7
    Yahoo! 37
    MSN (Beta) 1
    Teoma Not in Top 100

** Then I ran the ranking tool on seomoz, and came up with the following:

    Yahoo! dave chappelle tickets 37
    Yahoo! "dave chappelle tickets" 82
