Apart from so many suggestion you may also need to ascertain if you are enjoying your work or is it getting monotonus for you? In case it is the latter then you have to refocus on your priorities and look at the possible options available to you.

Take a break and reassess the situation.

You mentioned on developing a style. Style is something which comes subconciously to you. You should not worry too much about it. Just concentrate on accomplishing your task efficiently.
    Keep it simple.
Rest everything will fall in place.

    Good luck buddy!

There's a concept in psychotherapy called "pardoxical intention," used to treat phobias and obsessions. It works like this: Say you have a client who has a fear of sweating profusely in public. And this, of course, leads to anxiety, which subsequently causes this person to sweat profusely in public.

The therapist would then suggest that next time the person is in a public situation, he/she should actively attempt to sweat as profusely and intensely as possible. The client, heeding the therapist's advice, trys this and becomes aware of the irrationality of this fear, which suddenly appears somewhat silly and humorous, and notices that though trying hard to sweat, he/she is actually "drier" than they normally would be. The fear is gradually extinguished, as are its physiological effects.

It's similar to the "don't think about a white elephant" joke, which, after hearing, you cannot NOT think of a white elephant. The harder you try to get rid of the thought "I have writer's block," the more deeply set it becomes.

So the solution is to say to yourself--I don't care if I write anything anymore. Maybe set a time limit--absolutely no writing ANYTHING for the next 48 hours.

You'll soon be flooded with ideas. :)

There's a similar technique in couple's therapy, when they complain of a "lack of intimacy." Instead of prescribing that they practice getting closer, the therapist suggests that they have absolutely NO intimate contact for the next 2 weeks. Usually, the excitement of "breaking the therapist's rules" leads to intimacy within a few days. ;)

Hope this helps, and yes, I'm a therapist (disclaimer: this post is for entertainment/educational purposes only...blah blah blah).

    Thanks,
    Paul

Sorry. Don't you know that we psychologists have an uncontrollable need to take simplistic concepts and "fluff" them up with important sounding words (like, "paradoxical intention") to make ourselves feel smart and important?

    :)

    Thanks,
    Paul

You mean to say you fleece people with your scientific jargon just to impress him!

He pays you up to understand a simple concept in the most complicated way?
    ;)
