Hello and thanks for viewing my threat. I recently bought a site: www.RCcarsFun.com and I tried to move it to my host. I go to my new host cpanel and I add a database and then I upload the files using filezilla to the public_html folder but an error message appears (Error establishing a database connection). I am new to all these and I don't really know if I do it right (obviously I don't). Please tell me what to do to bring my site back online, I really need it ASAP. Thanks

You need to make sure you have made the database, imported the sql-file and created the necessary users with phpMyAdmin.

    Good advice webmasterplace..

And very importantly if you have not did it already.

Be sure that you have changed the DNS info from the domain register and have it pointed to your new webhost..

I'd check whether the old host and the new host share the same technology to host your application code and RDBMS platform.

A site would not work say you're trying move a php website with mysql backend to a host that has only .NET and MS SQL server backend. I hope this helps and good luck.

Make sure the settings on the site are the same as on your database, so say it needs a database name called 'rc_cars', but your have a database called 'rc_toys', it's not going to work. Make sure all the configuration information is correct. Also make sure you have users on your database (can be done through cPanel and almost all other hosting control panels), and that they have privileges assigned.

Make sure that you had made necessary correct configurations at domain management.
    Check Nameserver and IP

Just change the script config file for the db settings (user name, password etc).

WHM has awesome site moving options. If you don't have WHM ask your host for some assistance, they should oblige without many issues.
