I submmited my site to 100 directories and i most of them except me but i still have 3-4 visitors a day why whAT IS the msot effective way to promote my site!!!and the fastest!!! http://webmasters.orgfree.com/
Directories aren't good for direct traffic, but long term the backlinks will help your search engine rankings. Probably takes around 3-6 months or more before you start getting full credit for the backlinks in Google, not sure about Yahoo, and MSN will give you credit pretty much immediately once they find the links.
That pretty much sums it up. Directories are mainly used to help rankings and PR, not traffic. For traffic, you'll have to spend some money on advertising, like Google AdWords or banner advertising.
seyoboy if you havn't already tried writing and submitting articles it may be worth giving that a shot, like everything else theres no guarantee of results but most things are worth experimenting with. Im reading up on RSS at the moment, as simple as they say that RSS is, ive not used it yet so im looking into it and researching at the moment. And blogging, ive recently started, while im possibly stating the obvious or its already mentioned in other places, any of this may help you. Patience and perseverance too.
Can someone tell me if these "100 manual submissions to directories for $10" actually make a difference in PR and rankings.
Every little bit helps, even if it's just 100 links. All though I would look for one that does "100 pr3+ submissions for $10".
I usually use a variety of methods to bring traffic to my site, directories (big and small), article writing and sometimes adsense. Blogging can help as well.
submiting in directorys really helps...but only for pr. And 100 directorys is not much...after you did 1000 directorys, then you are on the good road
I might just add that yes you submitted to 100 directories but how many of those 100 have acutally reviewed and added your site yet? Give it some time I say...
It depends on your site's acceptance rate. If most directories accept you, albeit in their own sweet time, then it can have an impact. But if yours is a MFA site, or otherwise not likely to get listings, then you won't do well from directories. In the small handful of directories that list almost everything that gets submitted, you will often be sharing space with hundreds of other links, so your site won't see much PR or traffic benefit.
