I stuffed up - need help (joomla - virtuemart)

I built a joomla site a while back and had the virtuemart component added for the shopping needs...
However I messed around with some files in virtuemart - as I was only selling digital products and did not want customers to have to fill in too many details.

however now it doesn't work... when I purchase an item - it takes me to the paypal screen where I pay and also takes me back to the merchant site - but the way virtuemart is set up - it is to send an email to the customer with a link to download the product along with a key (this does not work - no email sent)

I have too many products listed and dont want to go through the trouble of listing them all over again.

Is there any way for me to save that data so that i can re-install virtuemart and then upload the data and get all my listings back?

    thanks guys

If you messed around with the .php files then you can simply backup the sql data in the database, all the items are (99% probability) listed there
You can then replace all the php files from the installation and your shop will work again!
