I snagged the "MSN-AdCenter.com" domain name...

after the big announcements a few days ago...I'm wondering if there are any possible legal issues with it?

I figured that if they had wanted it Microsoft could have taken it before they announced their new program to the public...

But I also remember that 17 year old kid named Mike Rowe who had his mikerowsoft.com site and they shut him down with a big fat lawsuit...

    Any comments?

I didn't ask for legal advice, I asked for comments.

you're saying that I should pay a lawyer $500 bucks to advise me what to do with a $5 domain name?

    - I'm not at all attached to it at this point, it's just for fun.

What are you going to do for a concept with the name

The only way to test the water is to publish some pages and see if the domain is challenged, if not you can keep flying with it man

I thought I'd just do news and info about AdCenter, just like the many sites doing the same thing for AdSense. Figured I'd be in a good position since it can't be released until 2006.

Like I said, the sure way to find out is to host some pages and see if anything happens, what do you have to lose

If you fear legal problems form a corporation and transfer the domain to the corporation to protect your other assets.

You're right, I hope you can forgive me, maybe I can rehabilitate, I'm sure you've reported this horrific crime to the DP moderation police...

Sometimes it's good to cut people a little slack to be imperfect...you'll enjoy life more, and be more fun to deal with.

    ^ ha ha!

Sorry, SmartMoney. I didn't mean to come across as rude.

I just didn't want to see anyone give you bad advice that you would have to "pay for" later.

eBay threatened to sue me for registering buying-and-selling-on-ebay.com.

I am quite certain that Microsoft is no less litigious than eBay.

Like I said, just incorporate and publish, see what happens, they can only take what is in the corporation (very little)

I agree with what others have said. It's a shady situation when you register a domain name like that. There isn't any harm in keeping it for now and doing a little something with it, but I wouldnt' invest big money into it or anything, you don't want to lose a lot if they decide to take it.

Your domain name uses at least one and possibly two trademarks. Based upon your published intentions, there is a likelyhood to cause confusion with the trademarks. IMO, Microsoft will shut you down if you use the domain.
