I'm not really sure what happened here. Just a note my site is NSFW hope it's not a problem to discuss that. I am learning as I go, in terms of developing, coding, and optimizing the site (for SEs and otherwise). Basically I started off by doing a lot of link trades, and I got pretty high up for "Porn" (7th result I think I had), and "Porno Videos" (maybe 3rd, I don't remember). Anyways, then around the new year, I updated my layout, but I didn't really change the look. I just had it recut to use CSS instead of tables to make it better. All the content remained the same. Also, I don't think it's because of the layout because in theory even if the layout was different, and optimized worse, I may have gotten worse rankings for my keywords, but I've been dropped completely. I checked 35 pages heh it's nowhere.. At around the same time I *completely* dropped from the keywords "Porn" and "Porno Videos"... I'm not sure if it had to do with the layout, I still don't know what's going on to this day. To be honest I didn't have much on site optimization, and anyways all the content stayed the same.. I was hoping it would come back but it's been a month. I am not banned because if you search the site name, and some non-competetive words ("nasty porn" -- not even optimized for it at all) it's there. I'm aware of the "sandbox" effect and have been reading on it, but I'm not sure it would apply to me. The domain is less than a year old, I think I registered in in April of 07 maybe. So it's not new at all either. I've changed the nameserver only once in that time, when moving to a dedicated box.. Does anyone have any idea what this could be, why it happened, how long it will take to get out out of it, etc. It's really hurting my site and I would like to do anything possible to fix it. Thanks for all the help. Edit: the site is nastysix dot com .. in case anyone wants to have a look at my code to see if there's anything on the site that caused this..
I seem to be having a very similar situation to what you are experiencing.. I was at position number 3 in google for adult dvd for a few months and then something strange started happening.. It seemed to completely drop out of searches for that term for between a couple of days up to a week on 2 occassions.. I thought that everything was fine when it stopped happening and my position stayed the same for about a month and then out of nowhere it was gone and it's been this way for several months now. I really dont know why this has happened and my site still seems to be seo'd to a high standard to rank for that keyword and I do rank at number one for another keyword at the moment. I don't know if maybe it's some change I made to the site's wording or as I had been using comment tags in blogs to get links and maybe google considered this keyword spamming so penalized me for that phrase... if that is the case I think it would be extremely hard to reverse or even to find out for sure.. does anyone have any answers???
