I saw the Occupy Wall Street protest when I visited New York City yesterday. I was shocked at how small it was! The park it is in is super, super tiny. I thought there would be 1,000's of tents, but there were far, far less. I was shocked because it looked like such a large area on the news, but the park is absolutely tiny in real life (only 33,000 square feet). That would be like 330 feet by 100 feet for example.
I'm also not trying to say anything bad about the movement at all. I believe all people have the rights to express their views as long as they are not hurting others, using violence, things like that. I've also watched the protest on news channels like MSNBC and I'm just saying I was shocked by how tiny the protest area and number of protesters really is. Just wanted to be clear that I'm not trying to bash anything. Only making an observation about the size of the park and protest area.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sk9rZxCVff0 That was a far larger event which took place which apparently the main stream media didn't report to its fullest extent. The movement from what I have heard is not just in New York.
Occupy Wall Street protests have taken place all over the USA. I was just surprised how tiny the protest was in NYC at Zuccotti Park.
Has anyone else seen the Occupy Wall Street protest in NYC for themselves (in person, not on TV)? If so, I'd be really interested to hear your thoughts.
You know, now that I think about it, when the news shows the Occupy Wall Street protesters they are always very tight shots.
