My website is a dating website. Ok its nice with cool feature and ofcourse its free. Its around 8 months old. i received around only 40 users a day and still no sign up! However if i advertise on google, well $10 only brings me around 80-90 visitor with chance of 6-7 sign up, is it ok?
You are in a seriously competitive area? Do yo charge or is it a free site? If you charge you should probably go free for quite some time to build up your users.
Actually its free and the website features are great. I advertised on google, and i have seen some really professional people signed up.....ammm so still i have no idea how to get visitor. However if i pay for advertising i will get some visitors and sign ups, but again since its not product that i'm selling and its free, i feel its not worth to pay for advertising.......
Bigzeno is right: You couldn't have picked a more competitive niche. Getting a dating site, whether free or paid, off the ground is very tricky business. Think about it: If you were looking to date online, would you sign up for a site like yours that currently has NO other members when you could just as easily sign up for a free site like Plenty Of Fish where there are thousands of potential dates a click away? If you really want to start your own dating site, my advice would be to make it a niche site. This will set it apart from the thousands of other online dating sites. Dating for fat people, dating for tall people, dating for Buddhists, etc. I am sure you can get more creative than that, but you get my point. Not only will this distinguish your site from the others, but it will be easier to get it off the ground because you will be able to seek out your sub-demographic online and market to it.
Hi Xterious, Aside from the competitive marketplace, advertising your website is whats going to bring in the registered users. I do understand since you are not selling anything, you may not want to pay for advertising, however you are looking about it in the wrong way. You should pay, and collect the users email becasue that will become your future marketing list. Even though you may not be earning money now, a marketing list is powerful because you can upsell ANY product to that list. So, yes the niche may be competitive, and you may not want to pay to gain users but it could be all worth it depending on what you do with the information.
How about getting a ghostwriter to write some articles for you. You can submit them to Articlebase or EZA and get some pretty cheap traffic. This would also help with building a set of backlinks. Of course you could try and save yourself some money and write them yourself. Good Luck!
this will help you get more traffic to your site http://www.revisitors.com/cgi-bin/ls/c1.cgi/teeroy_ad
Well your web-site is one which requires a lot of cheap traffic on entertainment sites. I would reccomend to use adf.ly , adbrite pop-unders , adoori.com , and other platforms which have entertianment sites. Try going to icq.com and posting yoru site in chat , until they kick you out. I wouldn't expect much from search engines, SEO wont be useful, directories won't help , you need cheap banner advertising or pop unders. Sites such as where people watch movies, megavideos, and so on will also beneft you a lot!
you need to get real traffic. For this, you do social book marking, social media marketing and get quality back links.
Why would he need quality backlinks if he has no chance in the search engines? Social bookmarking again nothing to do with this. possibly Social media marketing will work if done right, because most dating service are considered spam.
As someone else has mentioned i think to make a go of it you have a some niche factor that is unique to your site that i feel is the way forward with your project, you are competing against some big boys with some deep pockets in this area so if you stay on your current course i feel you wont make a go of it i am afraid but its still not too late to change to that unique niche then i think it will start to take off.Good luck with what ever you choose.
I think if you change your website design as user friendly and attractive that will help you. And you can get more visitors from social media optimizations.
Firstly the conversion from your traffic in Google is really good seeing that you are new. You should try getting some ghost members to join and add some life to your Dating website, simultaneously run ads with Google, adbrite and get into forum posting. This should help you jump start your dating site.
The action is what is going to get you some positive / negative results. We can't come up with an answer since you've provided too little information about your website. Al.
How are you monetising the site? If you are able to use adwords or another program to profit from the traffic then the paid google traffic and joins would be much more effective.
Who whats to sign up to a dating site when its bran new? If you sign up you want it to have other uses, other people to date. If there is no one else to date who wants to sign up?
