I went digging through hostmonsters TOS, and, well, it's the basic vagueness one expects these days: HostMonster.Com employs complex mechanisms to protect its Subscribers and systems from abuse. HostMonster.Com's offering of "unlimited" services is not intended to allow the actions of a single or few Subscribers to unfairly or adversely impact the experience of other Subscribers. No real definitions or limitations defined *anywhere* that I can see. (Some "unlimited" hosts will say things like "90% of files must be HTML/graphics, etc" or "Limit XXXXXX files per account...")... Basically their standing is, if their complex mechanisms declare you are unfit, you are unfit. So as long as your site stays below the radar and never shows up as a "problem", your okay.. but only they know what defines a "problem", and they're not telling you in advance. I'd love to figure out how to apply this business method to my day to day life. "Yes honey, of course, I'd do *anything* for you... Oh? Dinner with the inlaws? Well, you see, my "complex mechanisms" tell me that I can't do that, sorry." ~shrug~
yah possible to have unlimited bandwidth cause they provide you limited cpu, ram and low access speed ..... i saw some host provide unlimited space and bandwidth but limited to 1 MYSQL account or 30 sql connection space is important but space = speed (connection) + cpu + ram = money so far only see unlimited space but never see anyone offer unlimited CPU n ram
As soon as you figure out a way to market it this way, you might make a lot of money. easydolla, good luck with the new website on the VPS. You'll still be sharing resources to some degree, but it should be a lot better than HM. Do you mind sharing who you're using for the VPS? And what did you notice from your 100k traffic test?
I'm with hostv , so far so good. And not all the hits were delivered but more than half where, I noticed the site loading much slower, so I stopped the hits, got a VPS and now everything is running fine
Well, i read this after there's a warning from my webhost (lunarpages) that one of my script take to much resource and disabled it. Like you, i'm also confuse why the Basic plan offer unlimited bandwidth and space with cheaper price while the dedicated is expensive but not get the unlimited bandwidth. And now i got the answer. I guess i learn it in a hard way Anyway, that kind of advertising is pretty tricky, especially for a newbie (like me). I only know that diskspace and bandwidth is important and never realize that cpu + ram is important, until now.. Anyway, anybody can help me? My website is offering direct download of some kind of file (3-5 Mb) and daily visitor about 1.5k-3k , and i guess i need to upgrade my host. What level of host should i have? PM me if you can help, thanks beforehand
