Going on 2 weeks...starting to not be as irritable...I have eaten most of the pens in my office and the coffee stirrers.

I had a beer 3 days ago...not reccomended for another week or 2. Soon enough I will feel like I am only 54.

Good for you, I am a chain smoker once I get started and I know that is is a sickness that is really a substance abuse problem.

If you abuse it, you will do other drugs and alcohol also since you will have no real self control.

Every thing begins with the first step, that goes for the abuse or ending it.

I think it is all matter of will. If you are weak you will not succeed. Don't be weak, weak people are easy to rule and manipulate. Do you want to be ruled and manipulated?

Your right Pink Chair, it takes a strong person to see the product every time they walk into a store and refuse to buy it just to get started on the chain smoking sickness again

PS: Welcome to the forum, don't mind those who stir up trouble around here, I taught most of them

Lol innit. Someone once told me that giving up smoking is harder than giving up heroin. Now..I have no idea how much real factual truth lies in that, but it sure does feel true. I can't quit smoking for sh*t.

Even if i have just had a ciggerette 2 minutes ago....and then see someone on TV smoking..I am already craving for another.

    WIERDOOOOOOOOOOO

I've been considering trying to give quitting ago, I've tried a couple of times before and by the end of day 2 or 3 I feel so tired I have to have one just to wake up, if I could shake the tiredness I reckon I could do it no problems as I have plenty of other things to do that's for sure.

Any tips? I've gone 6 months without one and then things happened and it wasn't long before I was back to square one.

The only thing that can get you off of them is fear of early death, I seen my two favorite Uncles die when a tiny spot on their lung turned into full body cancer.

My mother has problems keeping her breath, you are only 20 years behind the prior generation so your and my day is coming

Interesting actually, I was just reading the linke above 'whyquit' and found something I was experiencing the other week when I gave it a crack. I might try getting additional sugar intake or something similar for the first week and see what happens. Ok, so I spend a bit on juices and other stuff I wouldn't normally buy but hell it's sure better than spending $65 per week on smokes or close to the $3500 mark per year which is the real scary part.

The way I think is it won't happen to me so I don't think that I am going to die early, although I really should be thinking about that as it will happen.

My mother recently had to go into hospital and she's a smoker and has been for as long as I can remember, she didn't have one for 5 days while she was in there and what does she do when she comes home? That's right spark up a smoke, I couldn't believe it and was actually very annoyed as she had the perfect headstart and destroys it just like that.

We'll see, I'm on my 2nd to last packet so once I finish that I'm going to give it another crack.

I was lucky in the fact I found it really easy to quit. I never planned it, was just on holiday lazing around a pool and watched most people lighting up blowing smoke on their kids and then noticed I was doing the same, my 10 year 20 a day habit ended there. I think I'm probably one of the minority that gives up on holiday.

I did find http://whyquit.com/ was a great help in keeping me off the weed after I'd quit, knowledge is power and all that.

Other than the obvious benefits a big one for me is the extra hour I have every day to do with how I like (sites at the mo  )
