I once happened to work on an assignment of processing more than 3 million emails for legitimacy. I ended up writing a program to ping mail servers to indicate if an email address is valid w/o actually sending the emails. Most of the mail servers used to give the info accept yahoo, which always would return true (if my memory serves me right as it was over 6/7 years ago).

If you don't know how to generate your own leads
then instead of wasting your time with buying
garabe leads. You can buy a traffic course called
Traffic Ultimatum. They have ebooks and videos
that will show you how to get free or paid traffic.

It's never a good idea to purchase an email list for precisely this purpose, if the emails are fake, chances are they are auto created, and not real people or whoever typed them does not want to be contacted, and if you attempted to they would just report you for spamming and get you in trouble with your ISP and/or your host

Many have already posted good advice, some maybe not so good. First, if you know what you are doing with spam lists, then it may work for you. But if not and you send spam I don't think you will get sued by anyone. But other bad things can and may happen to you:

    1) A spam report to your ISP provider may get your account closed. Then you will have to get a dial-up account again.

    2) If you mention your web site in your spam your hosting account may be closed. Spammers do this all the time, and just get another hosting account. But...

    3) If the domain you use is reported to your domain registrar, it may get suspended. DomainSite.com will suspend domains and so will Godaddy and Public Domain Registry. Other registrars may or may not.

So as you can see if you don't want to be a spammer, sending spam can quickly shut down your online business in many cases.

I agree you should DEMAND your money back from whoever sold you that list. They sold you something that could get your accounts closed and they should not profit from that...! Good Luck!
