    Ok here are my views..

1- Be your own man, make the right decision your self
If i were you id keep it on there and even advertise the link where the video was placed, not only that id even open a section of all the complaints you are receiving from his/her lawyer

2- I would pm Gnet the name of that artist so that i can do the same thing you are doing to really heat their heads!

3- Don't worry you are 90% safe you aren't even remotely related to the video

    -its not hosted with you
    -its not hosted BY you
    -its not made by you

    so chill

    and go do number 2

So it seems that everyone has helped you out, so why help them out in return by posting the youtube link as they requested? It's only fair and has no effect on you right?

If this 'celebrity' was so concerned about their public image they wouldn't have ended up in this compromising situation anyway. Why not share the YouTube link with us? You're hardly breaking any laws by pointing us at someone else's upload on YouTube (well, if you're in the US mayhaps you are).

Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Lidnsey Lohan or Nicole Richie.. they are my guesses lol

I would post the URL here and then encourage everyone to put it on their blogs.

Put it this way - they would have contacted YouTube. And if YouTube deems that its allowed to stay online (legally there must be something protecting them then) then I can't see why not to keep it

This is what's weird. They have a bitch about 1 blog and try and force them to remove it. Yet they could *easily* go to youtube and get rid of it from all blogs. That seems suss.

By the way, you can "fake" email address (I sent one to my friend from "admin@myspace.com" saying his account was suspended due to the anti-homosexuality movement :p

Couldn't find the email it really got sent from either in the headers  :D

    I'm not a lawyer however
    1. Who owns the rights to the video. They are saying all rights reserved however they have to have rights to begin with for that to mean anything
    2. Kindly govern yourselves accordingly - this phrase seems to be that you self regulate which implies the choice is yours
    3. Have you acknowledged receipt else it must have gone into your spam or been accidentally deleted :) spam is coming through all the time
    4. I have never heard of email being a legally enforceable notice.
    5. As I understand it Copyright does not have any damages attached unless it is a properly registered work. I somehow doubt they filed it.
    6. Civil cases are a different matter (from criminal). That comes down to money. A person may not want to be "made an example of".
    7. The bottom line, remembering I am not a professional lawyer, you don't seem to have infringed a property right, caused any damage(?) or broken copyright. What's their problem?
    Your choice though.
    Cheers

i think this is a made up story, cause
    1. Celeb lawyers are damn good, they would have definitely contacted google first instead of a particular website.
    2. The guy aint just prepared to give us the youtube link. Why would he do that? My guess is cause there aint no such link.

I'm assuming the email had contact info? Just call the office and talk to them. That way you can verify that it is a real claim, and while you are at it the celeb will be getting charge $500 per hour for the lawyer to talk to you.

So just call and explain that you are not hosting the vid. see what they say.

Is that similar to how no self-respecting lawyer would waste time prosecuting college kids for swapping music online?

Oh. Wait. They've been doing that for years now.

Interns get paid very little to do a very lot of grunt work. If the celebrity wants the movie gone, having an intern track down sites is one way to do it. It could simply be a short-term solution until a legal proceeding with YouTube can be completed (which could take a long time).

And for those that argue that there's no legal liability because the video is hosted by YouTube, let's take an absurd example to illustrate a point.

You know a site that hosts child porn videos. You embed one of these videos on your site with a flash player.

You don't think you would be in deep trouble if someone found out?

YouTube would be responsible for the legal issues. It did have an embed code so people can put it on websites for goodness sakes. If they didn't want other people to be putting their vids on their websites, then they should have disabled the embed code.
