I believe that any networking web site should be close to the visitors and very interesting for them. So in this case your task is quite easy. What you need is just attract creative posters and then you will have good traffic there

 

Since Content is King, you will need to hire content posters who make interesting posts, like how reddit does it.

 

Just promote your site through link building,....Getting high PR link, Blog creation, use social sites and wiki sites will help you to improve your traffic.

 

You do not need to use gorilla promotion. Just stick to some natural one.

I think all of your suggestions are pretty and useful. Getting traffic to your site takes hard work and studiousness. Think about it this way - how are people supposed to know where to find your site if you don't tell them? You must advertise, submit your site to as many search engines as you can( Alexa, Ask...), attract creative posters, build Backlinks...

Hmm, how about if you try to blog your site and do some bookmarking on it. they give you traffic that your site need and after you've done advertising you could just do your task again, submit links to directories, blogs, and articles(contents coming from your site)...
