I need your opinion on a problem I have encountered!

Recently, a client on his own, asked me of I there is some advertising space available for sale on mu PR3 blog.

And I responded with my offer, which was gladly accepted and after putting their link and adjusting it the way they liked, they paid for a 1 year of advertising. They have previously asked specifically for 1 year of advertising and all the conditions of our deal were complete and deal closed.

And, watch this...after a several days, they are sending me a letter, we are changing our marketing strategy, pulling all the links from the places we have paid at, and we want a full refund! But we have already enriched our own advertising budget with these funds, and they are already spent!

But that is not so important, I need to hear your opinion on this matter, as I think that I should not issue a refund to them, as the deal is closed and all the requirements from my side were fulfilled. Eventually offer them stopping and continuing the marketing campaign later...

Let me hear your experience and you opinion on this case.....

Well, i had similar problems and this is how i manage to work out ... let's say they paid 100$ for 12 months.
    12 months equals 1 year (dooh) = 365 days
    100/365 days = 0.27$
Let's say their link was on your website 10 days.
    Then 10 x 0.27 = 2.7$
    Now, 100$ - 2.7$ = 97.3$
    Refund them 97.3$ :)
Or tell them that because of THEIR cancellation you can refund only 50%

    You choose :)

I thing it is not that simple. Combson spend time to communicate with those people, spend time to put link on his web site and after all probably there are some expenses for the money transfer. Also they approach him with a proposal and they can not just inform him for "changing marketing strategy" after a few days and ask for refund. It is not serious at all...

Its the seller's responsibility for getting into writting the terms of the link sale. If money/term is agreed upon in emails this might suffice but you need to have everything in writting and include a refund policy.

That being said you did NOT fufill your end of the agreement, however after his link is on your site for a year you will have.

If you plan on keeping this person/company as a client you should at the very least issue a partial refund, if not don't sweat it.
