As 123 said, you can place Adsense on your website where you will gain money per click. As far as advertising your website, Google has a program called Adwords that is essentially the opposite side of Adsense. You pay to advertise your website and pay per click your advertisement recieves. The problem is that you should read a lot about it before getting involved. Adwords can suck up any marketing budget you have and your site will not be as productive as you would have liked. There is lots of information and programs to help you with this.

Identify a niche need, topic, service or product.
