Right now I don't offer updatability. Just static sites which usually work for the very small businesses I've made sites for. Why? Because I don't know crap beyond HTML, CSS and a few more minor languages.

I need to increase my possible clients. I don't know crap about updatability stuff though but I should finally learn.

What goes into it? What languages? What the crap do I do? lol

A friend suggested asp.net stuff. I don't know crap. Can anyone suggest a good tutorial site or a place to start to learn this stuff?

Probably the easiest language to start is PHP.

Download XAMPP so you have a server already configured on your pc, also with mysql, then looks for some guides/books (i personally start with the book called: PHP Solutions: Dynamic Web Design Made Easy
    by David Powers).

And I didn't know anything server-side related when I start. Now, but not only with that book, I can make small working CMS for my clients. :)

You could install something like Joomla and have a play around with it, sometimes the best way to learn is the hands on method. If your host has cpanel and has Fantastico enable then you can install it in a single click.

Either a CMS that you feel you could quickly get clients used to, or attempt to learn some php and mysql maybe.

Well... if you have problems coding your website just open a software like Expression Web - right click the code and choose Re-encode HTML :)

I'd learn normal PHP & MySQL, actually it is very easy when you already are into xhtml and css. There are billions of articles on the internet and I bet you could learn it pretty fast.
    - I think if you want clients, then Joomla is the best choice, since many clients order web-design coded into Joomla.

    Good luck!
